StarriKnytes: I learned many bits of missing info that may help. Cover with mulch in the winter was a major point, since the strawberry bloom is formed in the fall. I'll focus on that.

Ddaisy: BTW, each state does have a Master Gardener program. I think you'd enjoy it. It's offered through the area extension office and your land grant university.

as for retirement ... if we hit the lottery tomorrow and were financially set for life, I really think I'd keep doing what I do now. I really enjoy my life as-is.
