all of those deaths were so unceremonious and I hate that shit

like there’s something to be said for just like, the reality of people dying, but it was A Lot in the back third of the game and like, what was the point

nishiki? exploded but also who cares we’re glossing right over that bc yumi who we have no real reason to care deeply about (and starting with 0 means you have plenty of reasons to care about nishiki)

and yumi too though like ok we have introduced this nice woman and dangled a baby carrot on a stick in front of you bc there was a happy family scene but no, she gets murderated too

like??!?!! death doesn’t make it deep, that’s not good storytelling even when the reality is that people are going to die in these situations, it’s especially not good storytelling if you suck all the gravity out of it immediately

I was kind of like “well this story is all over the place but it could be worse” for most of the game and now I’m like “I hate this game actually”, what a disappointment after how incredible 0 was

I know it gets better again in kiwami 2 so I’ll look forward to that but holy cow
