Butter doesn't last long enough in this house. But we leave it out. (It's a bitch and a half in winter, though. See: there's no heating in our kitchen.)

Butter last a lot longer outside a fridge than people think it does but you need to have it very well-sealed

We have a butter dish. But a block of butter lasts less than a week with us.
