Thank you, Marvel, for giving us Tony commenting on Steve's ass.
And also for giving me, personally, more of 2012 Avengers Loki being a snarky bitch. <33333
Before he fucked off with the tesseract which I'm assuming maybe will spiral off into his new show?
Also RIP the guardians existing at all in the timeline Thanos #2 was from lmao.
I think those were the only two timelines that would've actually changed? Maybe?
Or they're the only two timelines that deviated and exist at all, I guess.
BUT ANYWAY I'm getting ahead of myself.
I've been sitting on this for like four hours while driving to a work conference and I JUST WANT TO YELL ABOUT THINGS.
Razorsaw: Oh is it? Because after I got out of the movie that was one of the first things I googled (briefly lol) and whatever two random ass articles I clicked on both said the same thing re: how the show might spin off from 2012 Loki.
But they were obviously not official and I definitely haven't looked into it too deeply.
ANYWAY THE MOVIE WAS EXCELLENT.
Is it possible to watch that massive battle at the end WITHOUT cheering when everyone shows up????
I cried multiple times, of course.
Probably the most during the credits ahaha BUT COME ON the way they did the original Avengers with their autographs and all that aslkjghfs amazing. I just hit EMOTIONAL OVERLOAD at that point and lost it.
There were SO MANY CHARACTERS and I'm so glad they brought back basically every-fucking-one ever.
I super enjoyed them hopping through all the previous movies and basically doing a tribute of the MCU.
Yay for DBZ time travel rules instead of Back to the Future rules lol.
I really thought they were gonna kill Steve and let Tony live but honestly it definitely feels more full circle and appropriate that it was Tony.
(OH MAN THEY EVEN BROUGHT BACK JARVIS FROM AGENT CARTER AHHHHH sorry just remembered I wanted to mention that.)
I'm so glad Tony had his final moments with Rhodey, Peter, and Pepper.
I mean it hurt but it was perfect.
Everything with Tony and Peter was A++++++ really.
I just adore Tom Holland.
And his Spider-Man is SO GOOD.
But like so did his entire friend group get snapped or...?
I'm really glad we only have to wait like two months for that movie lol.
Anyway I guess Tony at least got those five years with his family.
And Steve got his nice life.
Which I'm assuming he created some other timeline with Peggy? Per the time travel rules they went with.
they did such a good job with this. and yeah, another timeline
one of the shows that was announced was an Agent Carter alternate timeline
also man. I made the mistake of looking at tumblr and there's so much salt and people not understanding how the fuck time travel in this movie works.
I was kind of side-eyeing the Luke & Leia-ness of Steve and Sharon at first (like directly after the movie ended lol) because she would've known he was who Peggy ended up with but 1) they still wouldn't be blood related and 2) alternate timeline anyway so whatever.
queerty: Oh snap really? About Agent Carter. I missed that one. I'm still mad they didn't let us have season 3 of the original show, we only needed one final season to wrap things up and show us the crew actually forming SHIELD.
And yeah I figured if anyone had complaints it would probably definitely be about the time travel stuff. Sometimes that's an automatic Bad Thing for people.
But I mean damn they very clearly spelled out how it works in this movie!
And it such a comics thing anyway like whatever.
I appreciate how they even showed Steve taking the hammer with him when he was returning the stones so at least that was another timeline that didn't get fucked.
god. I can't find it now. maybe it was fake. D:
OMFG THE HAMMER AND STEVE LIKE ASLKSJFDS THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME.
I wasn't expecting Thor to be a hot mess for the entire movie hahaha but it worked and I was cool with it.
I wonder if he'll cameo in GotG 3: Asgardians of the Galaxy.
I really love how they handled Thor's mental health and its effects.
like. there were a few things that they did joke wise that made me roll my eyes, but the way Chris played him was so good.
Also lmao I wish (Re)Connect was that Kingdom Hearts animated series we never got.
Yes I liked what they did with him!
ok so I wasn't completely wrong on having seen stuff about her getting an AU show.
I haven't seen it yet, but I spoiled myself on purpose and I WANT TO SEE THOR! So glad there is also goign to be a Thor 4. I'm just so happy that chubby cosplayers can ACTUALLY BE THOR now.
he looked so good on the battlefield with the braided beard and hair.
Ahhhhh there was so much I loved.
I have PTSD and I've been fat my whole life, so I cried when I read about that spoiler. XD
Oh shit I forgot to mention Nat at all but !!!!!!!! my girl ilu thank you for your sacrifice YOU WILL BE MISSED.
I saw where that was going but wasn't sure which one of them was going to kick it and they definitely faked me out because I thought Clint had her beat for a second there.
god yeah. I'm so sad about her death. :< but I also went into the movie expecting a bunch of the main cast to die, so it was a huge relief to me that most survived.
Razorsaw: yeah, that's what it said in the article I linked.
I admittedly hadn't paid super close attention to it when the news first came out and so couldn't remember which things were full series and which were just storylines in series
or what specifically the AU with Peggy was
as soon as I realized what stone Nat and Clint were going for I went "oh shit no"
I really thought more people were going to die, too!!
But I'm happy they didn't.
Though there were many moments in the final battle I was like bracing myself for death lol.
Biggest one was when Steve had Thanos in a headlock from behind and Thor had the axe in front and I was like OH SHIT HERE COMES ANOTHER SACRIFICE. I thought for sure Thor was gonna kill Thanos and Steve together in one blow or something ahaha.
Anyway I gotta sleep because stupid work conference tomorrow but I want to flail more so maybe later.
I'm seeing it again on Saturday wooooo.
I don’t know when I’ll get to see it again, but god, I want to see it again so badly.
ALSO THE GIRL POWER PART AT THE END. That was a fun moment.
Oh oh and Steve in the elevator and HAIL HYDRA shit that was classic.
P.S. Google "Thanos" and click the gauntlet. XDD
Past Steve: I can do this all day.
Current Steve: YEAH I KNOW. 🙄🙄🙄😬😬
I like how Marvel turned their worst comic arc in years into a very, very good payoff.
I didn't read it tbh (I read more DC than Marvel but the Marvel movies are obviously >>>>>>>>>> DC) but I'm glad it turned out better.
the hail hydra moment was so good lmao
IT WAS and I was just so thrilled to see Sitwell and them at all.
I loooove all the characters they brought back and included.
SITWELL. and lmao the elevator scene was so good. for half a second I thought he was going to fight everyone in there like he had in winter soldier
I KIND OF WANTED HIM TO but the "hail hydra" was fucking classic and brilliant.
Also when whoever it was (Scott?) was like "they literally LOOK like bad guys!"
Yeah, it was Scott. XD that line cracked me up.
So I haven't seen anyone mention (not that I've had time to look yet) but if they just restored everyone who got snapped, who the hell knows what some of them might be coming back to. Their loved ones might've moved on or even died.
Or like what you see with Peter briefly, your entire life could be upended because now you're five years behind your classmates or now your younger siblings are older than you.
For that matter what about the people who didn't get snapped but died because of someone else getting snapped?
If an pilot vanished did everyone on the plane die when it crashed? Car accidents, anyone being operated on...
Maybe they didn't just bring back everyone who got snapped. Maybe it's more DBZ rules again and it was just some weird kind of thing where they brought back everyone who died as a result of what Thanos did.
Yeah, it’s definitely a thing we won’t know more about until whatever movie comes out that takes place post-Endgame (since I think spider-man sequel is pre-IW?)
It is??? I thought someone said it takes place like minutes after Endgame ends.
Also it came up in another plurk but LOL I did not consider what it would be like for Cap to return the soul stone to Vormir. 😂
Oh really? I haven’t seen any trailers for it. But I remember hearing back around IW coming out that it was going to be set pre-IW.
Haha god yeah. I bet that was a trip. I wish we’d gotten to see that.
I guess we'll find out soon! But I think (and hope) it takes place after. Plus Feige said he views Far From Home as the true end of Phase 3.
Ugh I just thought about Tony hugging Peter and then Peter crying when Tony was dying and now my soul hurts again.
BUT YEAH lmao hey Red Skull how's it going?
Also it’s still weird to me that red skull is no longer played by Hugo Weaving, but I guess when your face is 100% prosthetic makeup it doesn’t much matter.
So in the timeline where Steve goes back to marry Peggy there's another Steve still in the ice, huh?
My honest suspicion is it's going to be closer to DBZ rules in practice for the sake of keeping things from going too dark
I'm fine with that explanation until proven otherwise!
I know it's a weird thing to be a fan of but the credits for Endgame are just really cool.
Anyway Bucky definitely knew Steve wasn't coming back.
Second watch and it's way more obvious.
Wow I straight up ugly cried through the end of the movie though TURNS OUT IT'S WORSE WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT'S COMING.
But fuck that entire final battle is just so unbelievably awesome.
This doesn't feel like a 3-hour movie either.
it really didn't feel 3 hours, I agree. I wish I had the money to go see it again already, but alas, I do not.
Boo! I have the AMC app and will definitely be taking advantage of it for this movie.
we don't have AMC in my town.
Man, some people just REALLY don't understand the time travel rules Endgame went with even though they were pretty clearly explained?
It's not that complicated.
There's no time paradox because Nebula killed herself and Steve did not make out with his own great niece or whatever.
...He did wipe out any kids Peggy might've had in the original timeline in the new timeline he created with her but you know.
yep. but expecting people to understand time travel when it's different from the time travel they're used to...
despite how much they talked about how it works in the movie.
I guess I have no issue with it because I'm used to those rules.
I always refer to time travel as Back to the Future rules, Harry Potter rules, and DBZ rules. Those are my three go to things.
You can change your future by messing with the past, time loop, or you create a new timeline and the old one stays unchanged.
But I think old Cap showing up is what confuses people the most because they're assuming he stayed in the MCU timeline when he went to the past and then just showed up at the right time.
When I guess the question is how did he get back to that timeline and there could be a thousand different ways because his new timeline is still full of geniuses.
still full of the same geniuses, even. just different versions of them.
there's people who are salty that Steve didn't talk to Bucky, but we don't know how long he stayed there after passing on the shield to Sam. like there's only so much they can cram into 3 hours
Listen, like I said, Bucky FOR SURE knew Steve wasn't coming back. He said he was going to miss him and was 0% surprised when Steve didn't turn up. Then he spots old Steve and tells Sam to talk to him first.
It could've just been intuition.
Or Steve straight up could've told him beforehand secretly.
Because they had to rebuild that whole time machine anyway so that would've taken a bit.
So it doesn't bother me at all that we don't see old Steve talk to Bucky.
They had time before he left.
And Bucky had already made peace with what was gonna go down.
yeah, it didn't bug me either because that's how I saw it too.
like people. we do not have to see EVERYTHING on screen for it to have happened.
It's fine, when you don't know what Steve's plan is it's easy to miss Bucky's reaction to the whole thing. So maybe if those people go see it again they'll chill out.
There's just no reason for Bucky to have that moment with Steve, hug him, and tell him he's going to miss him, if he knew he'd be seeing him again in a matter of seconds lmao.
I mean I definitely didn't catch it the first time.
yeah. and I mean, I know I am always like 5 steps ahead of what's happening in the movies anyway because I am trope savvy and pick up on where this thing that's happening right now is going to go way before we see it play out. XD; not always because some stuff still surprises me. but more often than not...
yeah exactly. like. they all know from their past travel that they were barely gone in their timeline when they went to the other timelines.
there's no reason for Bucky to be like "I'll miss you" to Steve if he thought Steve was returning.
Yeah!!! They very clearly were saying goodbye to each other.
And now I'm sad again lol.
I don't think it was intuition, I think Steve MUST have told him beforehand. I want that fic.
yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if Steve asked Bucky for his advice on the matter.
Maybe! I'm sure there were many conversations about it even. About if it was the right thing to do.
My god you're right about the salt, there are entire articles about fans being pissed.
They're saying it ruined Steve's character and he just left Bucky to be tortured OH MY GOD YOU IDIOTS IT'S A NEW FUCKING TIMELINE.
Shit, he probably even goes and saves Bucky in that timeline.
yeah. anything he does on that new timeline won't affect what Bucky on the main timeline went through
Here's what made me mad about it. EVEN IT IF WASN'T A NEW TIMELINE: Steve would let Bucky be tortured for 70 years, if it meant saving TRILLIONS of lives in the future.
I mean if he's accepting that he's going to wipe out Peggy's future family and is OKAY WITH THAT you think he's not just going to say "fuck it" and change some other shit along the way???
Because he knows that in the end, his friend will be okay.
tumblr is where the worst of the salt is. there's a lot of salt about fat Thor too.
and like. everyone. and everything.
nothing is good enough for some people on tumblr
There is that but also again at that point it's just like "well I'm in it now LET'S FUCK SOME SHIT UP
" he is literally creating a new reality he can do whatever the fuck he wants to prevent certain things from happening.
At most I think he would save Bucky and live with his wife and BFF.
Which that in itself would create a whole slew of new adventures probably.
Tumblr lives to be unhappy lol.
I can't wait until people start posting pics on the internet. I want to SEE Fat Thor and others! Since I probably won't see the movie until it is out on digital.
Ain't nobody can ever make me unhappy about Fat Thor. Because he's ME, dammit. Fat, anxious, depressed, traumatized, Playing video games. I'd date him more than ripped Thor.
(side note unrelated to anything: I guess there are also Kingdom Hearts time travel rules which are just like /DUMPSTER FIRE/)
(haha yeah. let's not go into KH time travel rules.)
Do we get to see Old Steve?
Fat Thor is glorious and also I was way into it when he got cool looking on the battlefield.
Oh oh oh! Is that his alien friend from Ragnarok under the shelf?!
Both his friends survived the snap!
Old Steve looks like Joe Biden. ROFL
Marvel is so good at their movie magic.
YOu know, from that pic of Thor... I'm not sure that's Hemsworth in a fat suit. That might actually be Vin Diesel as his body double. lol
He could've pumped enough to get a little more muscle. And he IS the voice of Groot!
that pic is from 2015. he lost that weight back then too
Or maybe Hemsworth just decided to have some ice cream instead of steamed chicken. XD
regardless, it looked damn realistic.
It does! And that's why I think it's either CGI or part body double or something. I dunno how they could cover ripped guy with such a great looking flesh covering.
yeah. my bet is combo cgi and fat suit
Clothed fat suit is one thing. Shirtless is another.
there's plenty of scenes with him with a shirt on.
(which is why I say combo of both because I don't think they'd waste time with CGI when he's got a shirt on.)
Marvel is literally full of magicians who can change any human to look like WHATEVER the hell they want lol.
Naw, they'd just stuff the shirt.
I'm sure it's a fat suit when he's clothed and Marvel cgi magic when he's shirtless.
Bruce Banner used to be my fave, but now it is Thor. Thor was the runner up before. haha
Cause Mark Ruffalo is adorable.
Bruce was great in this movie too.
Yes, but he's a little too large to date now. LOL
Unless you are stretchy like Luffy...
The fact that Strange made sure Tony survived Infinity War so that he'd be around to sacrifice himself five years later. Ouch.
Also Thanos removing the power stone so he can clock Captain Marvel with it.
You can see the exact second Tony is like: .....oh.
And I wanted to mention this time that the wide shot that is Captain America vs. THE ENTIRE THANOS ARMY right before everyone else starts showing up is fucking gorgeous.
yeah. and knowing how it ends, we now know why Dr Strange telling Tony how to win would mean it wouldn't happen
So the credits scene of Captain Marvel and people saying apparently it never happened and why did we even have the pager etc etc.
I don't think there was anything in Endgame that proves that scene DIDN'T happen?
In fact I think it's way more logical that they called her back to earth, maybe gave her a quick rundown on the whole "where's Fury?" question, and then were like "hey by the way some friends of ours were accidentally kidnapped on a spaceship and you can do space things apparently so like...help?"
And she went looking for survivors.
Rather than her just randomly coming across that ship because like SPACE IS HUGE YOU KNOW.
Especially since Pepper was there and one of the first ones outside when she brought the ship down ALMOST LIKE SHE WAS WAITING FOR HER TO COME BACK.
But there's not much there that would definitively say it was the first time Steve & co. had ever seen her.
Even if she only hung around for like five minutes the first time.
wait, people thought that scene didn't actually happen?!
everything in the movie involving her pointed at it having happened. I mean she wouldn't have been there for any of the rest of it if it hadn't?!
I've seen it mentioned a few times now. People just assuming her bringing Tony back to earth was her first visit back.
do they think she just found Tony and Nebula randomly or something? space is way too big for that shit.
I just want to talk about this movie forever haha.
WHAT DO I LOOK FORWARD TO NOW?!
Why did KH3 and Endgame have to come out in the same year.
With the same level of hype.
Avengers: Endgame Decimates Record Books with $1.2 Billion Global Debut
Okay but Peter meeting Morgan for the first time.
Peter basically becoming her big brother.
THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED.
Comes from
here originally and was Google translated.
"[Captain America] chose to go back to past and lived with the one he loved for the rest of his life. The time travel in this movie created an alternate reality. He lived a completely different life in that world. We don't know how exactly his life turned out, but I'd like to believe he still helped many others when they were needed in that world."
"Nope, not a time loop. Both Ancinet One and Hulk were right. You can't change the future by simply going back to past. But it's possible to create a different alternate future. It's not butterfly effect. Every decision you made in the past could potentially create a new timeline."
"For example, the old Cap at the end movie, he lived his married life in a different universe from the main one. He had to make another jump back to the main universe at the end to give the shield to Sam."
They need to say all this at another Q&A over this way lol.
Anyway I don't how accurate this is because there's typos and such but maybe??
considering its the same stuff I've seen from several people who have read a ton of marvel comics, seems accurate.
I'm sure this IS it, I just want other people to stop claiming Steve did a time loop thing and was Peggy's husband the whole time lol.
The whole #notmysteve thing actually makes me angry.
I read that this morning, too! Or skimmed it, had to get to work.
oh boy. is this #notmysteve tumblr bs? or twitter?
Both because people are dumb.
I saw some shit on tumblr when I got on there right after watching the movie and just all the salt made me go "not even going to touch this anymore"
Yeah it's like I just want to see other people's thoughts and discussions, man. 😭 And there's a LOT of love honestly but like everything nowadays there's STRONG levels of hate and garbage in between.
yep. :< at least plurk has been pretty good for seeing other people's thoughts and discussions with less of the vitriol.
I'm not really on here anymore. 99% of my feed is about RPs I'm not in and unfortunately twitter is the worst for talking spoilers because there's no good way to hide it.
That's why I still end up here to babble about things. XD
yeah. I'm not in any games myself and a lot of my timeline is about that, but at least I can just hit mute on those plurks and not get bothered with every response to those threads. :<
Yep, same! And I still like to see how various friends are doing so I keep checking in.
I'm pretty active on here. it's hard for me to use twitter these days. I just don't like it even though they now have threading available.
Threading doesn't help anything, it's still honestly the stupidest thing trying to follow a conversation on there if multiple people are involved.
You basically have to stick to private group chats.
It just happened to be where people were for the fandoms I ended up in lol.
I keep trying to persuade people to try plurk!!! But alas.
yeah. which is why even though I keep giving it a try, I just can't get into it.
which is sad because I miss talking to people who I know that are on there and not here.
Entertainment Weekly so now it's officially official lol.
So, has Cap been living in the past this whole time — or did he go and live in another dimension?
The directors say it’s the latter.
“If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality,” Joe explained.
Somehow, he was aware that Cap was going to live in the past, and it’s probably more than just intuition. “Especially when he says goodbye,” Joe explained. “He says, ‘I’ll miss you.’ Clearly he knows something.”
Which like, duh, but it's nice to have the confirmation.
Evans even managed to change his voice into a hushed rasp without any audio adjustments.
“We didn’t alter his voice at all,” Joe explained.
“We always say this about Chris — he’s so technically sophisticated as an actor and you can see it in that scene when he plays an old man,” Anthony added.
OMG some of the comments on that article I am just.
People still don't get it LMAO.
It's just not that complicated.
"Eleven years ago we were all wondering if a controversial actor like Robert Downey Jr. playing a B-tier Marvel character like Iron Man — and who cared about Iron Man, of all superheroes, in those days? — could make for a compelling movie.
Now, the sight of Downey’s signature in the end credits of a movie where he bid a final farewell to the role of Tony Stark is enough to make audiences well up with emotion."
It’s true though. The only way a movie like that can happen is when you have that many paving the way to it...
Yeah exactly! And it was almost an accident.
Like obviously they developed a clear idea of where they were going as more and more movies came out, but it hinged on the success of the early films.
All of which were solid and good and somehow had perfect casting.
You can't just plan an 11-year massively successful movie saga that ends which a 3-hour marvel involving 50 characters that will somehow make over $2 billion, hahaha.
Which is why this really probably will never happen again.
This is basically a confirmation the movie does indeed take place after Endgame, yes?
(not a trailer, just an announcement that one is coming)
That IMMEDIATELY wrecked me.
Also multiverse confirmed.
OMG. And his line about him doing their job was SO TONY
BITCH PLEASE YA BEEN TO SPACE.
Woooo glad the Loki thing is confirmed to be 2012 Loki.
Also -- "...that imagines a world where Peggy Carter becomes Captain America, while Steve Rogers works with Howard Stark to become Iron Man."
I knew the Captain America Peggy bit but Iron Man Steve?? Uwaaah.
yeah, the What If one feels like... it is not meant to be anything to do with MCU-verse. but it sounds amazing!
I want Captain America Peggy and Iron Man Steve.
I mean I could buy that it's the timeline Steve goes back to. But yeah it wouldn't surprise me if it's just its own thing that they don't directly connect to the MCU.
idk. I kind of want skinny scrawny non-serumed Steve as Iron Man and not MCU time traveled Steve.
And this one is just funny:
These are great. Also ow on the cheeseburgers.
I read a fan theory the other day that said Steve went back to dance with Peggy, but then 'rescued' Nat and that it was Nat he married! And that's why he didn't tell who it was.
lol I mean...I guess anything can be a theory.
But personally I don't see any reason to think that one is true. XD
