All the men seem to be meh. Butleigh is that how you spell it. says the right things and seem genuinely capable of capturing the centre but he needs policies rather than soundbites. and I suspect his saying nice things strategy will suffer when he has policies on show.the others seem pretty identikit. apart from Biden who wold have been great last century.
sammflorian I think Biden is quite likely to get a lot of votes, but I agree with Simeon that he's past his best-by date. If we're going to have a white centrist guy, I'd rather have Mayor Pete. But it's time for a woman, IMO.
'Cause Biden's gotta pretty good shot at winnin' right now, but I don't want him to. There's worse Dem candidates, but Otenth's right. It's not jes his age (Warren's pretty old too), it's his attitude. He would waste so much time tryin' t'get th'GOP to agree to stuff that they will never agree to, 'cause their only policy anymore is t'fight Dems.
Buttgieg is the best of the White Male contingent so far. Primarily because he hasn't been around long enough to make mistakes. Guys like Biden and Sanders are such old timers that they have well populated skeleton closets. He also is not straight, which gives him a slight advantage among the crowd who want more places at the table.
I think the perception among a lot of liberals is that he is 'electable' by the misogynist/racist contingent who may be willing to overlook his homosexuality? Not sure about that logic.
Harris and Warren both have the experience that is really going to be desperately needed. My dream team is both of them, but I suspect the conventional wisdom is going to want to see a white male VP like Obama chose.
I also dread what this country is going to turn into with another candidate who is a Person of color, a woman, or both. The backlash gets so ugly and horrible.
