To be a bit clearer, the server that I've been working on (to learn Server 2019) was connected to the same power strip as the router and cable modem. My storage drives don't fit into the SFF HP case, so I had them connected by a USB 3.0 hub.

One day, something occurred with the internet, and the power strip was turned off, killing power to everything. This is really bad in Windows, and the file tables were corrupted in my drives. Just like that.

I've since moved the computer to the spare bedroom, but I've been running without my big storage drives for a couple weeks. Now that I'm going to put my 8TB drive in the computer, I feel I can get back to downloading all the games again.

Gotta be careful though. Cox gives residential addresses a 1TB/month soft cap on bandwidth. After that, they start nagging you. If it becomes excessive, you get charged a bit more. I don't pay for the cable, so I'm not going to go that far.

On a side note, I look forward to getting a job that pays better so that I can comfortably take that responsibility from CD, and maybe shell out a bit more for faster speeds, or an unlimited data cap. It's amazing we don't hit it monthly, given the amount of streaming that happens in this house lol!

Ugh, I know this tech crap is boring. I'm going to start playing games again soon. I'm just really enamored with setting up the network here. I didn't really realize how fun it can be. You can turn a PC into a router!

In any case, starting with Steam backups and certain other games soon. I've already mostly gotten the everything I've cared about that's pre-5th generation console. PSOne and Saturn are next.
