yeah Zexal is character driven in the way GX is

but I have adhd and almost never does a show grip me firmly enough to keep me watching 1 new episode a week

GX is longer and has more filler, so it can be harder since it's slower to get off the ground, but some people genuinely enjoy the filler because it's silly

all i know is i did watch the original, it was a big part of my childhood and i'm still quite fond

and there are some character nuggets within sometimes

and then whenever i glanced at gx all i see are like "space dolphins! school for card games! guy who is half dinosaur!"
