https://images.plurk.com/2YWsxMKhAeSkSalBE2rROY.jpg guys my stupid fucking cat bit off and ATE a piece of this fucking plastic label and I’m really scared and upset. Should I bring her to an emergency vet???

My hope is kind of that the piece of plastic is small and soft enough that she’ll pass it, but she needed surgery when she was a kitten because her intestines were twisted up. I’m worried the plastic will get stuck in her intestines and she’ll need surgery again
DrFishbone if you see this please please please tell me what you think

if it's small it should be okay, but you could always try to induce vomiting or call a vet hotline? idk if they have one where you are

fingers crossed
her regular vet is closed on Sundays ... I might call anyway and see if there’s an on-call vet or something
Oh man... okay thank you for that link but I’ve definitely got to ask at least a vet of some kind, I don’t want to risk making her worse
I couldn’t find an emergency hotline but I did find a 24/7 emergency live chat and they should be having a vet call me soon
this is the info she gave me! She seems certain Ashe will be fine
melts into a pool of tears and dies
Thanks for the fucking heart attack Ashe
Oh my god sorry I had gone to sleep. I’m glad you got in touch with a hotline!

popping in here to say that yeah Alaska tries to eat plastic like this all the time and while it is not ideal, best case scenario is that it will pass through her system just fine or she will vomit it up! cats are so stupid I'm sorry ashe gave you a heart attack
She seems totally fine, so I’m hoping she’s already passed it. The vet recommended a can of pumpkin but california just went on statewide lockdown TODAY. We could probably get into a grocery store, but it would take ages... I wonder if you can buy canned pumpkin on Amazon. Laughs
I’ve never seen her attack a bottle label though! She loves all strings and ribbons and will happily eat them like she’s enjoying some bomb ass spaghetti but I’ve never seen her go for just straight plastic before.
We’ve gotten very careful about not letting strings or ribbons near her so perhaps this was her way of rebelling.

Oh! One final update here. It’s been a few days and Ashey seems to have passed the plastic no problem. She’s eating and drinking and pooping regularly. Praise Jesus 🙏
