[CD projekt/GOG/CP77] out of the blue my brother sent me these texts and I was howling https://images.plurk.com/5PVHIF5o0YlK5cWaDllhw.jpg

For the uninitiated, CD Projekt and their better known in-house development studio, CD PROJEKT RED, are responsible for TWO massive controversies in the week since the games release
1) of course, the colossal, staggering lengths to which CDPR went to lie to gamers, falsely advertise console performance or their game, and show themselves to be in every way scum by doing all of this WHILE pushing 80-100 hour mandatory weeks on their devastated and burnt out workforce.
2) But wait! There’s more. The parent company I mentioned before, CD Projekt, is also the owner of http://GOG.com/..., a digital storefront in the same way as steam.

These hacks pretended to have the bravery to host Devotion. A game by the same folks who made Detention, another fucking phenomenal game.
That one you can still get and if you like horror you will LOVE detention. Shits so fuckin sad man. iirc there is some violence and gore but nothing stands out to me in my memory. I’ll try and check on that later.
So anyway yeah, red candle games and GOG teamed up to get Devotion back on digital stores, and they announced as much on Twitter...

.... and merely hours later GOG tweets “after speaking with gamers we have decided not to host this game” or some inane fucking shit like that, that’s the gist.
Which is all thanks to Winnie the Pooh’s personal army of online trolls--because god knows great leaders feefees get hurt! How vary dare you be so mean! Let’s brigade this tiny indie Taiwanese developer and grind them to dust! Yaaaaay!
fuck the ccp but also fuck GOG and by that I mean FUCK CD Projekt for having literally no morals. Kowtowing the demands of a totalitarian and genodocal regime with the one hand, and with the other they paper over their lies with hot fixes and half assed apologies and SERIOUSLY pissing off Sony.
It has been SUCH a debacle.
... and the saddest thing is they’ll get away with all of it. They’ll get away with not listing Devotion due to pressure from CCP shills, and they’ll get away with cyberpunk, too, because it’s sold like 13 million units already despite it being basically unplayable on the consoles it was DESIGNED FOR (PS4 and xbox one)

Don’t forget the braindance sequence used the same lighting pattern intended to cause seizures without warning

I've seen some articles talking to Cyberpunk's investigators and it sounds like some of them are looking to sue CD Projekt for how they've handled the product they invested in, so hopefully that'll come to pass and smack them with a huge fine as well as trashed rep
drilnos: YEAH I HEARD ABOUT THAT
As someone who has dealt with a seizure disorder that was suuuuuuper scary and shitty
plus, the poor reviewer who pointed that out got INUNDATED with a massive amount of flashing images purposefully intended to induce seizure in her. All in retaliation for daring to criticize their awful buggy as shit sex simulator. lmfao. kill all ~gamers please
tsundoku: wow, an actual lawsuit? I know a lot of employees started pushing back and criticizing CDPR heavily, but a lawsuit! Damn. It’s well deserved and I hope they succeed if they do it, fuck CDPR
Companies like this just river ever get fined properly, courts always keep the fines so fucking low for rich people/corporations. But I’d still love to see them get slapped in the face.
The most depressing part is that they still sold 13 M units and once the graphical errors are largely fixed, ~gamers will go back to choking themselves on CDPR’s dick, and SWATting any who dare even whisper a criticism.
once again: all self-identified ~hardcore gamerz~ should die

it's somewhere along the lines of the big investors in the project are looking to sue because of the game being taken off the ps4 store and things like.... the way they lied about the game in marketing and presumably that bled into their initial pitches as well?

but if it opens the path for more lawsuits for things like overwork then... ... excellent
