Things you don't want to hear in a hospital emergency room: "Do you have a cardiologist? Do you have a living will? Especially when preceded by the ambulance EMT popping 4 baby aspirin and saying chew on these. So far I have had numerous bloodwork, a chest X-Ray and I am currently waiting for a chest CT. Plus they have me on a heparin drip.

Well I am still alive. I have a diagnosis of pneumonia and it is being treated with antibiotics. I am still on a heparin drip and oxygen. The cardiac cath was cancelled and they went with an echogram instead. I just recently spoke with my prim care doc. He said my heart isn't getting enough oxygen and it is laboring

Cardiology is considering installing a stent although I am not sure if this would happen before or after the pneumonia is resolved. He didn't seem too worried about the pneumonia saying that it was only an "ordinary" one.

Just had a chest X-Ray in bed and we should see if there is any reduction in lung infiltrates, consolidation and pleural effusions since the last CXR. They moved me to a non ICU room with a great view. The television is a bit winky, turning on and off randomly, switching channels randomly, and the closed caption settings are not reliable

I understand I will be talking with my cardiologist later today

good news all in all, the stent is easy to endure for the most part and hope it's all good news from here on out.

"ordinary pneumonia" ha! it still takes recovering. I'm glad to hear you're getting cared for and addressing the heart issues.

Busy day today. Talked with the cardiologist. He was very emphatic that there is NO WAY he is going to do anything until after the pneumonia has been resolved. I got a.pulmonologist added to the team. It doesn't look as dire as 2018 except for the cardiopulmonary effusion. Also got my first respiratory therapy. Appetite is slowly coming back.

I just read this Thorn - hang in there, and I hope it resolves. About 15 years ago, I had some mild chest pain that ended up with a heart cath, which showed no problems. It ended up being just a bad acid reflux, which went away with a month or two of antiacids....

Well I almost got discharged today. Primary care doc was good with it, pulmologist was good, infectious disease was ok as long as it included going home with a boatload of antibiotics and prednisone and pharmacy even offered to fill the order in hospital to save a trip to my regular pharmacy.

Then cardiology wandered in and said "We wanna do a (chemical) stress test tomorrow before signing off on discharge". But basicly, this thing looks like a rerun of the 2018 pneumococcal pneumonCia hospitalization. Since I got a pneumococcal vaccine in 2019, this case is milder with only 7 (now 8-) days of hospitalization as compared to 28

Also no pigtail catheter in the back draining 4 plus liters of fluid from my lungs,, no PICC line and a week of home health aides administering intravenous antibiotics. Thus far I have gotten off easy. Just wish I could have posted that I was back home. Hopefully tomorrow.

I'm home! I'll be seeing a primary care physician next week as well as a cardiologist. They've got me on metropolol, lisinopril (both blood pressure and heart rate meds), a tapering prednisone course for lung inflamation, protonix for acid reflux, tusson for cough. When I left, everyone agreed that I had pneumonia, but there was still debate whether I had

a myocardial infarction or just one mimiced by the pneumonia. The stress test was kind of equivocal on the subject. Anyway, I am back home and feeling a lot better. I'll be taking it easy for a few weeks. The pups will continue to get walks by Melanie the dog walker whom they love and we'll be hiring someone to mow the lawn for a month.

Thornton Albert Writer! You absolutely should not be mowing your lawn, especially now that the summer is coming!
