my pulse and blood pressure were way too high for a while, basically, and every now and then my heart goes !! and does an extra little heartbeat inbetween the regular ones
so as a first measure, my doctor put me on blood pressure medication which does what it's supposed to so now my blood pressure is down a good deal (upper part of the "normal" range for the most part) and my pulse is wayyyy down after just three days
but my body could certainly be happier about this sudden change
on the bright side, I'm spared the "strong headaches & nausea" part of the side effects I was told to expect in the first week or two since an adjustment period is apparently pretty standard for this stuff and most of
and I'm only dizzy occasionally/after walking or standing for more than five minutes, and even then it's not too bad
but I'm rather aware of my heartbeat at numerous times throughout the day and that's uncomfortable and I don't like it
(in like 2.5 weeks, I'm getting one of those 24h blood pressure/heartbeat measuring tools for a day to see how well the meds are helping with both of the initial problems once the adjustment period is over)
in the meantime, I would like to file a bug report
hyikes that sounds very distressing
it is a bit concerning :/
not entirely surprising, at least. Every relative I have over 40 has high blood pressure problems, even the two super physically fit people, and some started earlier than that. Surprisingly few (namely, one) serious heart problems in these families, all things considered, so I'm hopeful.
am happy to report that the dizziness from the medication adjustment is like 99% gone and I'm noticing far fewer extra heartbeats, so this seems to be working out pretty well
I'm going hours and hours without consciously noticing that I have a heartbeat in the first place, which is just the way I like it.
I'm glad the meds are doing good things with fewer effects! noticing heartbeat is always a little weird (I get it when I have migraines because the pain or dizziness reacts in time with heartbeat)
oof, that sounds like it'd make it even harder to not concentrate on the migraine >.<
