we've had four people quit work in the last month and a half. we're down to three employees, our manager, and our assistant
we were skeleton crewed before the first one quit
everything's just fucked and my rent got raised a hundred dollars from when I signed the lease just two years ago
and I still have covid aftereffects. probably always have them. not as severely as some people, but I'm just always more tired than I used to be and have less energy and stamina
so, yeah. fuck everything
God, I'm sorry.
...wait, in your entire department?
jfc that is in no way sustainable and a good way to lose the remaining folks, either from frustration or sheer physical burnout.
Is the store doing anything to help or are they just like "hang in there/best of luck"?
oh yeah we also have firm confirmation that our former store manager was completely fucking us over in order to make himself look better to higher ups and earn a Special Award and maybe get a promotion
"saving" on costs by cutting hours for every department, refusing to hire people to replace those who left (we had about 12/13 FT and 1/2 PT when he came in, when he left we had 7 FT and 1 PT), harassing everyone about overtime and refusing to grant any, completely ignoring work production in order to make people do things exactly his way exactly when he
wanted them, refusing transfers to other stores or even other departments to get away from his bullshit, and on and on and on
he retired end of April. I learned a couple days ago that at least one of my coworkers literally screamed in his face and cussed him out religiously and that might have prompted the retirement decision, because he put in for it a few days later
new guy who's come in is so much better, like I can't even explain how much better and I already love him, but the damage has already been done and everyone is just burned the fuck out
and the hiring issues across the country are happening with us, too. new manager has already contacted at least four people for interviews just with our department. two no called/no showed their interviews, one ...that's a story, but no he won't be working with us
atm the fourth has been hired and in theory starts next week, but we'll see if that happens
Yeah, I can imagine that kind of damage takes awhile to undo - and it doesn't help that people can be more financially secure on unemployment. Good grief.
I really hope the stress subsides soon and if not, you can get into a better position elsewhere.
sends you so many hugs!!!
Jesus. I'm really hoping that things get better soon.
I hope things go better for you
I hope things get better, that's all so incredibly stressful.
good god that's so much
jesus. that's a. yeah, that's so shit and I'm sorry to hear things have gone as much to shit as they have
