being Kate was SO MUCH FUN. she's so high energy and I had had a quantity of coffee that day. we got a lot of good attention and one little boy told me, "you sound like Kate Bishop," at which point I told him it's because I AM. lol.
the con was ..... weird. this year. it was weird. it wasn't as exuberantly joyful, not as community oriented, not really about the things cons are usually about for me. I kept to myself and my small group of folks I usually hang out with. I feel like a lot of people just weren't feeling it.
but I think I'm going to need to relearn how to do the extroverted side of fandom, among strangers. it's been nearly 2 years of "DONT GO BY STRANGERS" and I feel like it shows. obviously nothing is over and there's still a risk, but.
small kids at our charity events are super shy about coming up to us and it's like ... if they're under 5 years old then this is kind of all they know. which is sobering and I don't know how this is going to affect them long term but lbr no one knows how it will affect all of us long term
