If I do not get it, it won't be because I should not. It will be because Pfizer kicks Moderna's booty. lol, or who knows why, that is just our running joke in our home currently.
My daughter and I both had Pfizer vaccine and my hubby had Moderna.
At home tests can give false negatives
My work won’t even accept an at home test
gogolita: yes, I know. I have no symptoms, so I will just monitor that.
Are you kidding me??? I work at a SCHOOL! They do not care, there is NO contact tracing, no quarantine, they basically want us to come sick.
Schools have been the wild wild west all year
ALL of Florida is the wild west, but schools especially.
It’s okay. Tell me how happy you would be as a parent of an infant if you found out one of the teachers with your kids has tested positive for covid but she’s asymptotic and a cloth mask will do just fine
This is Rhode Island btw. We are supposed to have our shit together. I work for crazy people I swear to god.
as a parent i would be absolutely livid if my child came in contact with someone who has covid. all of this shit makes me want to keep my kid at home, i wish he didn't become so depressed from home schooling.
I'm thankful that our school system actually seems to give a crap and does the best they can to keep everyone safe, they do contact tracing too. I know this because when we got covid and I contacted the school we heard from the county to get more information about her case. I had pfizer and hubby had moderma, He got a sore throat and headache
I got my ass kicked for two weeks
I mean this is because of the CDC at this point. Some places are instituting their own policies. Not my work XD
What a joke tbh at this point. Multiple classes closed at this point with kids and teachers testing positive. But you gotta come back to work and classes have to open again after 5 days. This whole thing has just put me off. I went into work today and immediately got screwed over so I’m a little heated atm but gah.
Yikes, I hope your husband doesn't have too bad a time with it! Since your first test was negative, do you plan to test again in a few days? You might have done it too early (everyone seems to do it too early).
CharismaJonesford: Charisma that tested positive thing is nuts! and I don't think anyone has their shit together, I think its all coming apart at the seams.
To be clear, I do not have covid. I am not asymptomatic with covid. My test was negative. If I do get covid, I will have symptoms. I have had covid before and while milderish, I will have symptoms. I am only a close contact and while pre-vaccine the guidelines were to quarantine, they are not any longer.
now if you are a close contact, you do nothing different unless you show symptoms and/or test positive
LettePonnier: yes, definitely I will do another test and if I have symptoms I will stay home regardless of the results because I do not work sick. I stay home when I do not feel well.
Again just to be clear, I have NO symptoms and I also tested negative.
I said to me it SEEMS like schools and really ALL work places want you to come sick. I did not say that I would do that. Fuck that shit. I will stay home if I am sick and if I DO test positive, I will stay home for how many days I need until I DO NOT have symptoms.
My daughter's work told her that if she did test positive, she could be out five days and then, regardless of her symptoms, she was expected back at work on day six. I did not say a word to her, just nodded my head, but if she actually gets it, that will happen over my dead body.... but I digress
But it's ok. We haven't been all school year anyway. We simply put up signs that by entering the building, you assume your own risk for contracting Covid-19 and stopped all mitigation efforts.
lyrpop: same to the no quarantine and I don't think its illegal, but we do not do any close contact quarantine if you have been vaccinated.
But really, you can be asymptomatic, test negative and still be positive, especially with the home tests.
but yes, ALL mitigation efforts have also been stopped in schools where I am at too. and honestly this thing is so wide spread, and I have doubts as to whether any of our mitigation efforts did jack shit anyway, it does not surprise me at all. I don't know the solution, I just don't think there are anymore. We are just at survival of the fittest mode now.
I think we're almost on the other side of this. And there definitely does need to come a point where mitigation stops. I just think most places doing it at the height of Delta was stupid. Thankfully Omicron looks like a much better situation.
lyrpop: omg, I tried reading that and I got so completely confused! That is a nightmare!!
but thank you, because I thought Florida was the WORST about all this stuff, that article makes me think we are not alone in the asshattery!
Yeah Missouri was a nightmare through the whole pandemic after the first couple of weeks. The first 2 weeks people mostly behaved. Then all hell broke loose and everyone was too concerned about freedom.
Oh definitely not. Several states and entire countries have been downright stupid.
BTW- my husband is ok, he has symptoms, like a bad cold with the fatigue and muscle aches like you get with the flu, but his breathing seems ok and he is quarantined in our guest bedroom/bathroom. I have not been near him since his positive test. I also wiped down every surface in my house with clorox wipes, spayed down with Lysol yesterday too.
Came home from work today and sprayed all the surfaces, doorknobs, light switches in the house with Lysol again. i think this will just be my routine, rofl.
Anyone have any other advice for what I do when I have a close family member in my home positive? Any other precautions or ideas?
He is wearing a mask if he leaves the bedroom as well.
Honestly, I think my period might save me from getting COVID. Because I was/am on my period and I am in general cranky and don't want to be messed with. So normally, I probably would have kissed (etc) my husband in the two days before his positive test, but I don't think I did, lol. SO- period cramps saving my life this month,
