Even moreso when there are two versions of the game, with an identical title, and the main difference between the two is that the game balance of basically everything was changed completely between one version and the next
that second thing, so rude
good luck guessing which version the one forum entry you just found is actually about
And like, it's a turn-based dungeon crawler, but every now and then, it decides it wants to be real time and that is getting frustrating.
"surprise it's real time now" is the worst
Like with the big boss at the end of each dungeon, who can just... skip ahead in the turn order if you think about what to do for like two seconds.
And that's exactly the time where you'd really want to take your time and think strategically!
I'm enjoying the game so much otherwise (it's very clearly made for the waifu crowd but the characters are so genuinely endearing and I want to see more of them!)
(wait that came out wrong)
but this one boss. This one boss.
A-at least I'm getting good at staring at my party's HP/MP/blood bars during the boss's attack animation to decide what I want to do with the two people who can actually use items, because I sure can't afford to take the time to think about that during their turns.
oh my god no "suddenly real time" is the worst
oh hey happy level up day, Lym!
Thank you!
I just want to dungeon crawl in peace
I don't want to be rushed
I should clean up my inventory so I don't have to scroll past entirely too many low-level healing items in my attempt to get to the aoe heals because the boss starts skipping turns that quickly.
apparently, I'm playing the version of the game in which this particular mechanic is especially hard. Sure wish I'd known this agead of time!
(at least ni3w I know that the sequel is easier in that regard? y-yay...)
And now I know why enemies drop mp restoring items like candy
I managed to turtle my way through the fight withbthe most mp-intensive strategy I've used in... pretty much anything with a comparable mp system, honestly
Sleeping Beauty was there solely to debuff the boss every round
Alice is my paladin and covered the rest of the party everyvturn, and that takes up her action (and mp)
Red Riding Hood either buffed the party's defence or did her aoe heal (because Alice can't tank aoe attacks, sadly)
Snow White threw out ethers like candy, or also used her aoe heal, if necessary
Jack, The Boy, can't attack anyway, so he just threw out ethers every turn too
and finally, Cinderella just went ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK because damnit, someone's got to.
if she wasn't a crit-happy beast, this battle would probably still be going on
I went through like 50 ethers but I did it
with a single damage dealer
And then I met Rapunzel, who's a little gremlin who runs around naked in the dungeons eating monsters because she thinks they're... candy?
Mostly I'm amazed that even though this game runs on "the girls' clothes go poof when they're in their superpowered state" fanservice, naked Rapunzel shows up like this. XD
update after picking the game back up two weeks later: Rapunzel has now apparently made it her goal in life to eat the protagonist boy. Godspeed you delightful little hairball.
