I hate following artists whose work I like on social media and then seeing their clay feet all the time.

In this case, CJ Cherryh suggesting that air travel would be more pleasant if everyone were required to wear business attire.

She hasn't seemed swayed by the numerous objections that her suggestion is classist and retrograde. She's even brought up (favorably) the fact that ladies used to wear gloves. I swear, her FB wall makes her sound like she's a bajillion years old and except for becoming a lesbian, never changed any of her attitudes.

Air travel enthusiasts can be very, very weird about stuff like this, especially the ones who worry about having cough status with their airline of choice

Gods can you imagine the backup when Miss Fifties shows up to the airport in her hat, gloves and girdle? I would also note that during that period planes were vastly roomier than they are today and also featured smoke filled air for sharing by everyone. Well, everyone white of course.

In a way, I think I understand her point. There was a time, when a person was wearing their better clothing, they knew they should be on their best behavior. And that's what's missing from airline travel these days - people's best behavior.

Unfortunately, I think we're long past the time when clothing can affect a person's behavior.
