[covid] well, here we go
latest #22

I knew it was going to happen eventually but I thought maybe I’d dodged it a second time.

(My roommate had COVID a few months ago and somehow I didn’t get it)

Doing pretty okay so far, symptoms are “mild” enough that I probably wouldn’t have tested if I hadn’t just traveled.

I say “mild” but like, I have a laundry list of things that are wrong, they’re just not... more wrong than normal?

But body aches and fatigue are just “life” and I am very prone to sinus bullshit, of which this current batch is relatively minor.

So overall I can tell I’m not feeling well but it’s not really a whole lot worse than a random Wednesday of not feeling well.

Just an update that I seem to have made it out the other side okay. Not really ever really any worse than a very bad cold or a light flu for me. Sucked but not scary.

BUT. Did you know hives are a COVID symptom in rare cases and can linger after the other symptoms are gone?
seastheday

I did not but I apparently am one of the “lucky” ones.

It. Is. AWFUL.

It’s a bit like what I imagine getting chicken pox as an adult would be like. I am covered in spots and all of them itch like the devil.
seastheday

No accompanying fever or other symptoms to indicate anything else bad, though. And no signs of bugs or other critters in the house.
seastheday

Just SO SO SO ITCHY.

Negative now for COVID yay!!!

I do still have the hives though.
. But that’s kind of to be expected if they are autoimmune related.

Overall, for me it was about 48 hours of being pretty sick and then another like, five days of very sudden bouts of very deep fatigue.
seastheday

I’d say another 1-2 days after the “pretty sick” I was “minorly sick”

The hives thing is definitely the hardest part of all of this-- the other symptoms were bad but honestly not all that awful. I just slept mostly.
SKELEREN

I'm glad you're negative now but I'm sorry about the hives, hives are awful

I have auto-immune bullshit stuff so I don’t know why I’m SURPRISED about the hives but they REALLY SUCK all the same.
seastheday

And one of the things I’ve gotten before from the autoimmune stuff is the like, welting sort of hives. But these are the little ones.
