[work meets fandom] Life has been busy and I know I've fallen off the radar a bit, but. We got a new license at my job (a t-shirt place) and I just had to share.
Like. Fucking ALL of the Gundams.
So I'm somewhere between amused (because hello, old friend) and hilariously overwhelmed because I know my knowledge is limited to 1-3 properties and Gundam has so much. Like. 40 + years of stuff!
So I did my best to research "what is popular/known in the countries we sell to" while trying not to lean into my own bias. X')
40+ years with so many different mobile suits and variations of mobile suits etc etc
(In the meantime, I have been reminded that I really SHOULD watch Turn A Gundam)
IT'S A GUNDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
IT'S A GUNDAAAAAAAAAAM, indeed!
(I also basically had a Ted Talk explaining to my art director what a Gundam is, so that was a hilarious moment in my day)
"So it's a robot?"
"Yes, that you pilot. Like a giant... well, mobile suit, hence the name."
"Like Iron Man?"
"Oh no, much bigger, like two stories."
"Oh... so all giant robots that you pilot are gundams?"
"Uh, well... not exactly. Not even in the series. Just... the hero ones? With a certain look? And the Vs on their foreheads? (but not always??)"
Also, that video is incredible, Eileen, thank you for sharing. X')
I wish it was relevant to make Graham aker memes
fUCK
Now I want to make Graham meme shirts just for my own self
I WISH TO EMBRACE YOU, GUNDAM!!!
He has so many good lines tho
BECAUSE I AM A VIRGO, I BELIEVE IN FATE
AH YES TRULY A SLEEPING BEAUTY
The giant humvee he drives because he's american
I Stan a Graham who says weird shit constantly and can decide to wear a mask and be a weeb and yet still be respected
He has a license! To do whatever he wants!! And boy, DOES he
“You single-handedly stole my heart away. This feeling is, without a doubt, love! But if it transcends love, it becomes obsession!”
I need to rewatch that series if only for Graham and to cringe at what an edge lord I was 15 years ago
Or wait maybe only like 12 or 13
Re-watching the series for Graham sounds like an excellent choice
