why?? why?? why must we study ethics??
latest #12
so that we can see the different perspectives and derive a justification before deciding on our next course of action.
but then again.. ethics is more of a moral study.. and moral comes from your upbringing.. so basically we have learnt ethics alr.. lolx
if moral comes from an individual's upbringing, it will bring about a disparity of moralistic values by which a society cannot conform to.
for instance,a thief may teach his son to steal...
hence, learning ethics is about making u conform to certain codes of conduct that this society accepts. ie. brainwash u
true.. i just think upbringing of a child is important.. imagine if u teach a child tat stealing is a good act.. what will he become.. =(
by eliminating moral disagreement,we can at least have society agree to a collective moral values that is deemed right and promote welfare
ya.. but there's too much theories like utilitarianism, kantian, rawlsian, virtue.. each has thier own views..
the existence of each theories denotes the insufficiency of the others...
hayek said this: those cultures which adopted "good" ethical systems survived and flourished...
... while those with "bad" ones either floundered or adopted more successful ethical systems.
