You know how big IPs have this tantalizing potential that very often only gets realized through fandom and other acts of interpretation, but you are always kind of left wondering what it would be like if the people with the budget also really got it and could somehow sneak a true masterpiece past the suits? So anyway this plurk is about Andor... [spoilers]
They let the droid grieve and then be treated with compassion.
The scene was quiet and mundane.
Maarva had bern energized by the rebellion but she was old and sick and she dies offscreen, presumably from natural causes after several episodes full of violence.
We get to see her community handle her death despite increasing imperial crackdowns. Admittedly because they are holding off in hopes of luring back Cassian. But that processing of a quiet inevitable death is such a powerful contrast to the violent and unnecessary deaths caused by facism.
Seeing the droid with a stutter who presumably has little use now that he is not helping care for Maarva be treated like an actual person with value separate from his function. and emotions that matter (exactly as B2 is and should be) highlights how the empire treats all people like robots that only matter for their function and useful lifespan.
