I haven't been able to rez much in SL for a long time. My PC/GPU doesn't seem overworked, the fans mostly stay off and usage is ok. The stuff just never materializes and I stand in a mostly empty sim most of the time. Logging out and logging back in will pop in more things, but still not a complete store or venue. Can anyone explain?
what hardware do you need to run SL now? Or is there a setting I've screwed up?
My PC isn't ancient, but it's a few years old, and I haven't played much in the last few years, so I don't know when this started.
how about your internet connection? is your speed good?
comcast high speed. Internet speed test says 352 mbps download, 38.9 upload.

i was asking because i have pretty poop internet and sometimes it can take a long time for everything to appear
it's just so weird that the machine isn't cranking, which it used to do, years ago. It just gives up before it even tries now.
yeah, I've been there (with a poor connection) but they laid new cable here a few years ago and the connection has been great since then.
I can sign in, go someplace and then walk away for 15 minutes and when I come back, maybe 10% has loaded. It's not just slow. It doesn't load at all, ever. Though if I log out and back in, more will pop in (maybe 40%?). Is it a cache thing?
what viewer are you on? i assume firestorm? are you using the x64 version of it?

I just fiddled with a bunch of settings. Some things were set pretty low. I didn't want to change anything without asking if it was a known thing that impacted everyone.

I was trying to do advents this morning and it's just hopeless when nothing rezzes.
The other thing that can help sometimes is using the official SL viewer. I found that I can get shadows on that when I can't on firestorm, it's nuts. I'd give that a try too.

changing the cache for textures seems to have made a big difference. I don't know why it was set so low
