[cats] Okay, anybody got litter suggestions? I'm looking for something low dust, non-scented and preferably not sticking to kitty paws and then falling off everywhere.

I have tried one that claimed to be those things and only the non-scented part actually proved true.

hmm, I wonder if they've gotten better since the last time I tried something like them. I shall look!

I've been using pretty litter and it's pretty non-trackable, but there's still a little tracking since 1: cats and 2: both of them love to dig

I use corn litter with a litter mat... but that's because my boy is dumb
i used corn litter until the bag i got came infected with cigarette beetles. switched to regular clay after that

/nodnod my asthma doesn't like clay dust so I have to be careful. at the same time, I need to be budget conscious. so oof, pretty litter looks good but that is a lot for such a small bag

Could try tofu or pea husk litter

yeah, the most recent buy for me was supposed to be a 'light weight' clay litter and it was indeed lighter! but so dusty (in spite of package claims) and tracked horribly all over. (but now that the bin is empty, I can try something else)

I might try corn litter in one box, and the full weight clay in the other and see if my current foster cat will accept non-clay

I heavily reccommend the corn stuff

also if you have a problem with dust, a few silica-based litters might not be the best. Ive seen them to be pretty darn dusty if theyre low quality (not tht I like the crystal litters to begin with...just seesm too jagged)

ARM & HAMMER LITTER Platinum Hardball Garden Bloom L... i haven't noticed dust problems with this

and because it's so lightweight you have to buy less to cover more

I am really sad that that seems to be only available in scented. unscented is a must with my current foster.

I use World's Best. Doesn't track, very little (of any) dust, and as long as you clean daily, doesn't smell

I'll look into that too!

I use wood pellets and they’re quite good, but you need to have the right setup (ie one that will let you sift out the sawdust)

I switched from crystals precisely because they kicked up so much dust

/nodnod. I'm not sure I can buy new boxes for sifting out the sawdust but I can look into it
we use the tidy cat breeze system that uses plastic pellets, it comes in normal and XL sizes, but it would be an extra cost to get the whole system

that is a big starting expense. but if I can't find a good litter, might be worth it

You do pay less for the litter over time (as you don’t need to change it all every time)
I personally have 2 of the xl ones now and have no regrets. amazon actually makes it's own peepads that are much cheaper. I got a box of 40 and they last forever.
