In the caverns, you can get forgotten beast to show up. These are ancient monsters that live below ground, and are incredibly dangerous. I had a decent military, but decided to wait for the thing to leave before I tried any building down there. After a while, it left and I went to wall off a section, only for it to come back with a vengeance.

I set the military to try and fight it off and tried to get the dwarves down there to safety, but two of them, at the time working as a miner and an engraver, we’re in a squad. Rather than go up, grab their gear, and come back to the fight, they both hoisted their picks and decided to take this thing on

They hit it with the picks, punched it (managed to bruise some organs when they did) and kicked it when the picks got stuck in the wounds. Managed to dodge most of the beasts attacks, until the engraver got grabbed my the lower jaw and taken down. That must have given her an idea, because one she was released and the beast focused on the miner...

She jumped at the beast and BIT ONTO IT’S CHEST AND LACHED ON FOR DEAR LIFE! The beast took the miner to the ground by his tongue, but the engraver, still on its chest, struck it with her pick several times. The battle went on for a while before the rest of the army showed up and helped put an end to it, but those two held it off for a week on their own

Yep, as far as I can tell. Had a door down there that it didn’t try and break

if you get a web-slinging one I heard the strat for spider silk farming is to put in a cage with bunnies or dogs to bait the attacks, and just keep it behind a locked door 😂

I haven't played much but every time I did there have always been some epic stories

Oh yeah, the forgotten beast was like “likes to help people and will always repay their debts” and stuff, but then picked a fight with the wrong stone workers 🤣

I also love the tab listing memorable events for people

always the random dwarf mad for 5 years about getting caught in the rain pff

My militia commander went into battle with her baby on her back and killed 5 goblins. That kid now has problems 🤣
