I also hate how in the later comics when he's somewhere in his early to mid 20's, they suddenly decide to shove him into a relationship with Raven just because that pairing got popular...having forgotten they de-aged Raven into a teen.

oh my god, yeah. I really miss 80's Raven. Not that I don't like some Goth Raven on occasion but I wish she's stayed out of the main continuity. We have cannon AU's for a reason

Def had a lot to do with the TV show. The show was also why we got Gar/Raven despite it making no sense in comic's cannon.
