so, I've said to vin repeatedly "i will never write an open changes prompt, and unless planned out explicitly with another person, i may never thread out active monster changes with anyone other than you"
and i will acknowledge that this does seem unfair to the multitude of other players in the game who are into writing about changes
part of this comes down to fear, because i worry that the content of the changes and how i write about them will make other people uncomfortable and I don't want to make a thread partner uncomfortable and have to drop because of my writing
as I've mentioned around before off and on, I'm very into medical horror and i have studied some stuff about the human body so I like to write from a place of romanticizing the horror in realistic ways when it comes to what's going on when things change
and i know that this is very much not some ppl's jam nor is explicit gore
anyway, this is an admission that being withdrawn and preemptively rejecting others about this is wrong and i know it
so, i wanted to say this and ask: are there people who would want to thread changes with me in the future?
because I am thinking about alan being temped for September and wondering if I want to do another closed thread that's just alan and scratch again (i love them, i love writing them, but) or if i want to try giving someone else a chance
yeah, i'd absolutely be down. I read a lot of medical/sciency horror anyways so not much to shock me on that end
oh 100%. I adore body horror.
Same, I'm in this game specifically for the horror. (And also the great CR and lovely players, but game setting/mechanics wise? Horror)
waves hand I would! medical horror and body horror is my jam, irl medical stuff is terrifying to me but in fiction form, give it to me
I feel like there are a lot of people in this game specifically who are here because they love that kind of thing
haha that's honestly kind of a nice surprise! last time i was in the game (which yeah, was a very long time ago back in 2015) most people didn't want to threads changes and usually handwaved their own or only wrote vaguely about them
the only reason I don't write changes is because I have a hard time figuring out how to make them interactive
listen if i got a 12 foot werebear, he'll inconvenience everyone till he figures out coordinating
man, pondering interactivity got me thinking about how unfortunate it would be for someone to try comforting someone who was changing and then suddenly get impaled by a spike or horn growing out of the person changing
that was phrased with a lot of redundancy but the point is made
That's a sharp hook in a toplevel.
eyyyy
Talk about horning in on a thread
also belated but ty to everyone who said they're down! i gotta ruminate more on where I'd like changes to happen if considering other scene partners, but I've already had some thoughts about the waldgeist to demon transition and back again
also I've decided i wanna do a fog demon alan as well so that can be another bonus flavor of changes for people to play with
i have Design Ideas percolating
please let him accidentally impale someone
i think i will and the funniest thing about it is that normal alan would be upset but demon alan will be like "lol sucker"
alan after the month is over, horrified as he is hit with memories of his behavior
We gotta take advantage of the fact that demons and nephilim are mirror images, somehow. I don't know exactly how, but we gotta.
obviously in the mirror maze at amusement mile for an ironic venue /j
yeah, i can see where it'd be hard to write something that's collaborative and tandem against someone else when it comes to transformation stuff. part of why i've been worried about branching out has been that vin and I have been writing stuff like this together for 11 years so we really have a rhythm down when we do it
our early relationship bonding was the ol' LJ body horror transformation meme on memebells
we threw so many people on that thing and played together, i think the last one that ever went up was predominantly us lol
but yeah
alan & scratch's first transformation worked really well in such good tandem since we'd planned for their transformations to be mirrored, but i definitely want to play in the space of alan changing against someone who either isn't or is changing differently
(noticing after the fact there are words you forgot to include in a sentence and you can't edit: always terrifying, alas)
body horror is my absolute favorite thing to write and thread off, it's why I'm in ryslig in the first place!! I totally get wanting to limit those threads though, I usually do it myself if only bc if it's a big thing I wanna give it the attention it deserves in one thread, not rehash it a bunch!
so p much i get it, working with transformations is always a process. but put me down as another who is very into thread off intense body horror.
yeah it's definitely like... the kind of thread that'd work best as an open but first come first served deal lol because it's not the kind of thing that's easily retconned as happening with multiple tag-ins
i feel like the only exception is like if you had people on the street show up and tag in once or twice before being like "i'll be right back to get help /disappears for a first aid kit" or someone being like "uh oh no i'm gonna be sick /runs away to bathroom" and then someone else pops in and takes over
actually now i'm thinking about how a multi-person transformation thread could be kind of fun/funny if executed well haha
a pass-the-baton situation
Changes can be hard to make interactive. I love writing them out, even if no one responds to them. But I like the idea of someone getting hurt by another's changes.
c: I'm ALWAYS down to have my characters witness yours change
I love transformation and bodyhorror
i think conceptually what makes it hard (in my opinion) is really just that if it's someone you don't know or don't know well and aren't a person with a lot of compassion for random strangers there's not a lot of ways to be invested in the process ICly. OR unless your character has a natural curiosity or medical fascination with the changes process
yeah it certainly takes the right character or right situation
and otherwise, there's the other element where it can be deeply intimate but that only works with established or close CR
