i'm probably not an established enough player for this meme to work but i wanted to see if anyone had thoughts anyway

Honestly, from what I see of Alan there's a lot of the art imitates life imitates art circular thinking but that's canon .... and I also pick up on some burnout themes, like... he only ever feels half engaged in things but it reads like it's more because he is Too Tired but knows the effort still needs to be made for him to get anywhere

(which is a mood)

the burnout is strong with him

writing in the void for ten years will do that to you lol, he is in the process of remembering how to be a person vs author/character

sometimes i worry i'm rushing him too much back into being like how he is in the first alan wake versus how he is in AWAN and the AWE dlc, but i also worry keeping him in mental purgatory is not fun for everyone else

also lol burnout being present makes sense since apping alan to a game was sort of a last ditch effort to overcome my own writers block and burnout haha
