But I think Red Son would literally explode from annorance.
really now
Pre-Journey Wukong was a carefree asshole who just wanted to do what he wanted without ever really listening to what his closest friends needed, partied constantly and would take what he wanted if he didn't care about you.
Which means Red Son's not keeping him out of his lab. EVER.
I just need a way for such a plot to happen.
That's when Red Son looks for power cancelling things to bomb him with if he opens the wrong thing-
Wukong: /just steals the DB family box to troll Red Son. Doesn't even open it.
one of those boxes is Saya's extremely personal stuff so yeah definitely do that
(a piece of her dead Chevalier + the research journal from the piece of shit who owned her)
Red Son absolutely loses it-
THe third one is the Scroll of Memory Tablet
Nothing Can Go Wrong With That
Truthshroomed!Wukong Translation. I'm not going to analyze my feelings on my friends and who I want to really make that trust with, because then I have to realize how few friends I actually have and that makes me more sad.
Because even if that's not what Red Son was talking about, that's where his brain sidetracked to.
Red Son trying to help and this monkey smh
I knoooow...also sorry Red Son.
"Besides, you should be glad I'm keeping out of the only possible conflict that comes from being too close to Saya."
Wukong honestly
He's feeling a little called out, so he responded with a call-out.
meanwhile in another thread Saya lets out weeks of pent up affection in little bursts
Affection-burst Saya is super effective.
Red Son trying to be NICE and everything
not me enjoying this way too much
What? You enjoying? Perish the thought!
Wukong: I really don't want to reassess my friendships and consider things like the fact that while I was imprisoned for something we all did your dad was busy starting a family without so much as sending a card. Like a good brother. Best bro. I'd rather remember fun and parties.
Maybe go to actual therapy
Wukong doesn't have a fortune big enough to pay that bill.
Also, you first, Red Son.
He's figuring his shit out, he is Making Attemots
Wukong's attempts are just to cope and play off that everything's fiiiiine. Because if he lets it be fine then it will DEFINITELY actually be fine...enough.
And then only he has to deal with his many lifetimes of just always being the screw-up who gets the consequences.
If I had a gif of it, I'd insert MK avoiding talking about his monkey form here.
this thread got BONKERS after I crashed!
Wukong should let Saya help therapize him, she does it with snuggles and smooches it's very pleasant.
Saya is kind of his therapy friend.
two extremely messed up immortals use each other for therapy
Just a recipe for All The Feelings
Feels recipes are the best ones.
she does her best therapy in bed, sorry Red Son it's prescription
they're supposed to touch each other and all
And Wukong needs therapy~
lmao: I haven't needed help. [Getting help for MK and Saya were different. That was helping THEM.]
Ah yes, Saya is so touch starved, truly she would perish without you
I think you might have had a very old notif in your inbox, that tag was like 20 comments upthread, but I like it so I want to reply anyway
this is the current end of that thread if you need it
Thank you. I'm trying to remember to hit delete on notifs I've tagged. clearly I am failing.
But I am glad you liked it.
Red Son isn't talking about getting help with touch
He meant getting help In General
This is why Saya wrecking balled his heart, she offered to help HIM with HIS problems and HIS family without any other motivation and it was A Lot
lol oops, they keep switching topics so reading comprehension failed me
her motivation is caring for someone she likes, sounds fake I know
Its still very Him Focused and that is a lot
he offered her almost the same, his claim about motivation for helping with her hibernation being pity and for the sake of having a distraction is highly weaksauce
like that's a lot to just causally take on
that said her offering to help with his parents wasn't because he was helping her, it was just something she wanted to do, she was entirely too /shrug about turning her plans upside down
aaaaalso at the time they were being tortured by ghosts of his father and LBD and how much he was devastated was right in her face
then he went and almost cooked himself so they'd stay sane through that
Also, Wukong calling Red Son out. Again.
to be fair Saya almost leveled that place when they toted out her sister's torture on her. (the exact extent to which queens are telekinetic remains unclear but it's not like. controlled. Their big feelings just wreck shit.)
Saya has crazy self control so it rarely is a thing
lmao damn Wukong let it all out
Wukong poking a bear of trauma
Wukong is deliberately poking the bear of trauma. Or rather the bull of trauma.
throws Chevalier stuff at poor Wukong left and right
Wukong: /debating on telling her that one of his first friendship started with literal servitude and reinforcement through pain. So he refuses to be that bothered
she would feel so seen tbh
most people's reaction to Chevaliers is to be grossed out. Not unfairly. Red Son even said he was uncomfortable with it and he seems to get it more than anyone else
She's telling him some super complex, shady stuff, and he's just like "Yeah, but you miss them" to put it lightly.
"I want this but I'll never have it again because I refuse to let myself" is pretty fucking intense yeah
she values other people over her own happiness, always
if this thing happens where she accidentally turns Red Son because he swallows her blood (like a goddamn idiot) she won't just have mixed feelings she will have ALL THE FEELINGS at like twenty thousand on a 1-10 scale
Red Son not a fan of mind control, thanks trauma, but at least gets the Intense Feelings
she doesn't expect anyone to LIKE it. She doesn't. She expects people to be more sympathetic when she tells them that this is part of her.
humans, what can you do? they never get this stuff.
so she basically stopped trying. But Wukong isn't human so she's hoping she'll get a better response than "ew"
this is where her ability to achieve found family stuff helps. There's no need to turn hoards of people into fawning servants when you can just. Be nice. It's not the same, but differently satisfying.
Saya needs love just like everything does.
Also, I'm sorry, Red Son. This is now two bears poking each other.
On the bright side, it's a start to them being forced to talk it out later?
it's heavily implied that "creating a family" in this case quite fucking literally is an intense drive for queens
Diva did so immediately upon being released from captivity despite having no instructions about how to make it happen
"I'll feed this person my blood" isn't just something you randomly do, it has to be instinct
That's not surprising actually.
the fun part about canon being terrible with worldbuilding is that I get to draw my own conclusions~
That's always a ton of fun though!
Given when the Wukong and Saya in the nest thread happens, it kinda makes the fight thread worse for hurt. I'm still here for it though!
I'M FINE
I read Saya's tag, and flashbacked to MK's dad telling amnesiac Wukong that he's going to grow up to be a terrible mentor. Then I remembered that this is the same dad who constantly threatened to fire and/or replace MK to his face all of season one, sometimes gleefully.
the fuck is wrong with some people honestly -_-
Something something, the threat of consequences for being a slacker to get MK on track, something something?
Saya had a rotation of terrible father figures who basically brainwashed her but that's still pretty gross
Wukong in comparison season 2 was like "Imma head out without telling my Bud about the terror in the city so I can find something to kill the thing before he gets hurt or freaks out...well dammit I was too slow and am too beat up now so grab the kid and go"
Season 3 was "I need to meditate my powers back, but I have faith in you MK. Yeah you're getting it slowly, but I have faith in you, am proud of you, and I know you've got getting your powers back too. I want you to have that faith in yourself. Also keeping a secret until I feel it 's the right time to share."
Saya and Mei would probably like each other lots until she said one caustic word about Wukong and then Saya loses it on her
Mei: /makes that one comment on how Wukong is either not very open or how his planning is the worst
Saya: he's been open with me. Maybe he doesn't think you'll give him a fair shake.
Beautiful.
Luckily for her, he doesn't know yet that she trusted the antagonist and later led her not very experienced and unarmed friends to fight three demons who could each take out an army alone.
But his planning is THE WORST.
he doesn't seem like the planning type tbh
No, but he had one? Hers was "Well we've won before! So we can't just sit here!"
But yeah, when he said his plan out loud season three even he admitted it wasn't the best-sounding.
but that's still no reason to make someone feel like the amount of crap everyone made Wukong feel like, in Saya's opinion
he's important to MK, that alone means they should be decent about things
Maybe when season 5 rolls around.
this is part of the reason Saya is So Done putting up walls. Even if she's doing it for different reasons it's another unkindness and he's had enough of those, she won't do it anymore.
what he needs is someone to love him unconditionally and she's gonna do it
(she assumes MK also does but like. the way he's talking does not make it sound like that.)
MK does, but also he doesn't really want MK to pick between him and his friends.
Also, MK doesn't have Saya's way of making those feelings heard.
But there's a reason MK is the only Bud in Wukong's life right now. There was only one before him.
Saya has crept up in physical/emotional closeness privileges to close to that level in a similar but different way.
Which he's only really mentioned in passing compared to how big that is.
once Saya decides you're hers, you're doomed
(possessive terminology is how she rolls even though she doesn't mean it in a proprietary way)
I mean, that's fair. She's shepherding her collection of loved ones.
it's a queen's world and you're all just living in it
she had most of the imperious bullshit trained out of her but it comes out occasionally
The best part to me is that one of my favorite Wukong lines is in response to the Spider Queen.
maybe I should watch some of the 7000 LMK videos being recced to me thanks to playing with you three and see for myself
I do love out of context compilations I admit it
Spider Queen: I am the QUEEN!
Wukong: /enters the battle by walking down the wall, claiming his staff and landing on the ground/ Oh yeah? Well I'm the KING!
The complications are great out of context
Out of context videos can be great!
Yup! I've seen a bunch, also one of my favorite amvs is pure out-of-context to Can't Hold Us.
my favorites are The last of Us but make it a comedy
there's actually a lot of seriously hilarious character moments in between all the. despair.
That's fair. I mean...LMK dabbles in being horrifying, so why not?
Saya's canon is just wall to wall horror show. Like the "light" moments are either 10 minutes in the first episode or where someone is trying to convince Saya that hope exists somewhere (only for it to get immediately crushed)
but Hans Zimmer did the soundtrack so at least it's pleasant to listen to
does Wukong really get stage fright, too cute
He does indeed, the hermit
I love the fact that even he knows it makes no sense.
Saya was raised being forced to perform and hated it for the longest but then she fell for a bard and decided his love of music is more important than her trauma so now she does it all the time. Karaoke especially.
she's just the right kind of shameless to be great at it
Red Son first time hearing an apology and its just in so much to make it feel like nothing and he just wanted to try burning the monkey
Wisely choose to Just Leave
yyyyeah that's a non-apology sobs
they're operating on different levels of this problem
Very different. Because Wukong feels like what's coming out of Red Son's mouth is a lot of "You put me in this position" but also "Your actions caused trouble so you need to work on that yourself and deserve to be in a tight situation" and he's just like "Okay, but I'm not the only one involved. So why just me.
Because you aren't expressing your needs there, Wukong
into the get along shirt both of you
He was trying to be encouraging for friendship too and then this happened
Wukong wants to work out his friendships without the complex dark thoughts that come from that line of thinking. He tried to make that clear.
Seems like you struggle with that anyway-
His brain was venturing into "If your sworn brother spends 500 years being happily married and having a super healthy sex life while you're imprisoned for staging a coup with him, is he your friend?" and if your master frees you after 500 years and immediately enslaves you with the migraine from hell, is he your friend?"
He actually wasn't thinking about it until the scroll and the truth bite.
Maybe not ideal friends, no
Nope, but he doesn't want to dwell on that. He wants his happy friend memories. So those dark thoughts go on the bad thought hoard pile.
Like Saya! Saya is a mostly happy friend even when the conversations aren't happy. And always MK. MK brings much happiness in a cute and snarky package.
she's about to get a hearty dose of happy
Saya: casually brings up to Red Son how she was with Wukong in MK's nest, yolo
