Can any of my sewist friends answer a question for me? I'm trying to do one of Mood Fabrics' free patterns, and it says I need 130" of 'self fabric tape.' I did a quick Google search but didn't find anything with that exact phrase.

I'm thinking maybe they mean for me to make some sort of bias tape out of the same fabric as the clothes?

In the actual instructions they refer to it as binding. It's for the neckline and hem of the shirt. But on the pattern PDF it says self fabric tape.

Yeah that's what it sounds like. I wouldn't do it, personally. Too much wastage.

Yeah, I was thinking that seems like a LOT of fabric. I guess maybe I could get some bias tape instead, or just hem it.

I am a
big
fan of bias tape hems, they're
so
convenient. Got it from The Closet Historian over on youtube.

Also just for the record it
is
possible to do "bias" tape with straight grain, it's just not as flexible.
