A friendly reminder to artists who are tired of Adobe bullshit: not only there are Clip Studio and Procreate, but there is also free of charge, open-source Krita. With the current Krita features, I'd argue that it's actually better than Photoshop (for artists, at least).

oh... I haven't heard of Krita before. Will check that out soon.
Btw, my friendYetAnotherPainter - YouTubemakes plugins for Krita, and I think he would be happy to hear about ideas for creating more plugins :-)

owstalaga: It has some learning curve, because some of the features work differently or found in different menus from Ps/CS. But, imo, Krita has a better resource optimization (btw, you can set up resource limits in Krita settings), great brush engines, many blending options for creating the sickest effects, and whatever other feature you need-you name it

I'm a bit wary of open-source apps like Krita and GIMP because a lot of them don't have the features and ease-of-use that Adobe has spoiled me with.

ligayaharuka: Oh, I'm on the contrary: I love checking out open-source soft. I love the idea and the ethics, and, ime, it often has unexpected benefits. It can run better, faster, provide more freedom with features (tho, I agree it often requires more underlying tech knowledge).

ligayaharuka: In regards to Krita, the modern day Krita has more features for artists than Ps. Yes, getting to a new soft usually requires some time to get used, but the features themselves are all there-and some extra too. To me, getting back to Ps would be lacking in some features, so I'm sure you thinking Adobe has some "extra" features is just a wont :-D

thanks enanelle! I asked because I signed up for the beta years back, only to find it was originally Mac-only.

ligayaharuka: Oh, I see. Nah, Krita developed sooo much till now. They even recently fixed one of the main inconveniences I had with Krita - you couldn't move content of a few selected layers in sync if they weren't in the same group. Now you can, and I'm living
