Did you do custom? Or one of the origin characters?

I'm super curious about the dark urge.

Oh man, custom. Drow Sorcerer Wild Magic for me. I've heard Dark Urge is a thing, but don't know what it is.

Was the wild magic a problem?

One time I got Fly for two turns right when it was really useful. One time I accidentally entangled my entire party in a bottleneck hallway.

And one time, I turned the entire encounter into cats and dogs.

It's never gotten me killed. Yet.

It has sometimes turned into a new obstacle.

But it's been fun primarily.

I was thinking about doing sorcerer but right now I'm leaning more towards Bard.

I’m gonna go drow warlock. The faction that wants to overthrow Lolth and reinstall the elven pantheon. Clearly the best way to fight a primordial spider goddess is with a Great Old One pact.

I'm thinking either halfling or gnome.

Gonna play with the character creator and see what I can make.

Do the backgrounds matter at all? Or are they just a way to add a couple skills?

They have dialogue options and give you inspiration/reroll points for performing certain actions

Hmm, I guess I'll have to actually think about which one then...

i have robbed the shit outta everyone

the most important thing, especially for you i feel , is that you get a class that can cast speak with animals. It lasts until long rest, and if you cast it in camp, at least a druid, it doesnt take the spell slot.

Anyway I went tief druid with the turn into bear option. it makes one of the early questlines pretty easy
