I finally went to the effort of making the Mew a bug-tera maxed out stats and I still can't get things to go

I get why Nintendo structured it the way they did, for the Mew vs. Mewtwo thing, but they made that fight far too frustrating

How's your Mew set up? Support? Offense?

um, at the moment I've got Struggle Bug, Leech Life, Pollen Puff and Life Dew

the closest I got with a raid was when I was alternating hitting the other Mews with Pollen Puff and Life Dew for healing.

I do, yeah. but none of the groups of randos I worked with even got that far.

I've got Light Screen and Misty Terrain TMs that I can stick on my Mew

Tbh I haven't even looked how you're supposed to do this fight. My mew is grass tera, I think?

The main strategy seems to be to change your Mew's tera type to bug and either max out its attack stats or make it a defensive wall

Because other Mews are just not going to keep up with the damned thing

what happens is that Mewtwo starts with putting up Tera Shield and Calm Mind. and then uses Rest and a Chesto Berry when the shield breaks.

And it breaks when the Mewtwo's at half-life

Mud-slap can also be useful on a Mew

and Mewtwo has Aura Sphere so Dark Tera is a bad choice

Swords Dance for the attackers. Amnesia or Bulk Up

Also Ice Beam, but oddly that never did my Mew much damage

it never did mine much damage, but it did freeze almost every time Mewtwo used it

(maybe I've just been unlucky?)

I got very very lucky with that; my Mew only got frozen once

It is apparently possible to win it solo, but it requires a lot of luck with your other party members

Hmmmmmm. I may have to look at this in more detail in the light of day then. That does sound frustrating. It's a shame the only viable tactic is the make your "unique" Mew like everyone else's

I ended up doing it solo once and never even did enough damage to show on the health bar haha sob

(It is also possible to win without being able to stop it from Resting, if you luck into a good Tera Battle team, but that was online for me)

Yeah, I barely did any damage trying it solo, and the party members I was given for that kept dying instantly

(I can see that happening with luck but sob)

(It was a very close fight)

Tera raids are always so gross and unfair, I wish they would stop forcing cheese strats as the ONLY way to do things

YEah, I wish there were better ways to do Tera Raids.

They're so dull and same-y, and it gets worse the harder they make the boss pokemon

The idea is that there's 3 attack mews who spam struggle bug to get mewtwo to minus 6 attack and enough tera energy, then they power up with swords dance, then leech life.
Support mew just defence buffs and life dews as needed, then misty terrain to stop mewtwo resting.

Maxing out the stats on a single Pokemon for a single fight is really tiresome; I've skipped a fair amount of raid events because of it

I think people have actually managed to solo it but it needs a lot of RNG with the AI pokemon you get

yeah, the Blissey raids are useful for that, although I'd have rather saved the shards for my Eevee project

I'm trying to get a good stat Eevee and Eeveelution with each tera type

so 18 of each. lots and lots of shards because breeding will need to be involved

It's too bad Imprison doesn't seem to work (at least, not before the shield drops). It would be funny to, say, bring in a caught Mewtwo with Imprison and have it shut down most of Mewtwo's moves that way

I've done a little breeding; hatching the eggs isn't too bad if you wander the overworld going from raid to raid if you're grinding for tera shards at the same time

yeah, I don't mind hatching eggs too much, but the amount is a lot to get shinies specifically. lot fewer eggs needed just for decent stats
