A very excellent friend! We found out his full name is Lieutenant Sherbet.
Every time he was around all the tours would get side tracked lol.
Well, we were until about ten minutes ago. We walked across the street to get some food before the Halloween event.
We took the mansion tour and the walking with spirits tour already. I'm just in awe of the architecture.
The pictures don't prepare you for being there. Every time I looked around I saw some other detail I hadn't noticed before.
iirc we've chatted about it before, but i've wanted to go since i was like eight
I so wish these were still a thing.
I didn't take many pictures, so I'm just going to dump what I took here lol
Yes! You really need to go someday! It's incredible!
Maybe some year you can come visit and we can all go.
I swear most of my pictures are of tiny architectural details lol.
I started squeeing at
idgiebay about how Christine McConnell did her guest bedroom with so many of the same details that were in the furniture in Sarah Winchester's bedroom...
And another woman on the tour turned around and was like "I was just telling my husband that!" XD
Ihdreniel I missed your comment about our outfits. Thank you! That's the dress I made. I'm really proud of how it turned out.
That was our tour guide for the main house tour, Aziza. It was her very last tour ever. She was excellent.
None of the furniture in the house was original to the house, butt it was original to the period.
Oh wait, those all may be from the first time. I think we just enjoyed his company the second time. XD
He was chilling on a bench with one of the tour guides.
All these architectural details make me want to scream. They're so beautiful.
And every room was different, even with all those tiny things!
I've got way too many pictures to post, but I'm trying to find my favorite not-at-all-impressive little detail...
Don't tell me I didn't get any clear pictures of this one thing...
Noooooo, I didn't get any clear pictures of them!!!
See those little spots on the inner corners of the stairs? They're ornate little metal pieces.
Like the hinges and doorknobs, they're such a cool detail. It's clear there was a lot of love in the design of the house.
Every room is different but it's all so cohesive.
the glass and the decorative molding and the
hinges I can't
I was swooning over everything in the house, I swear!
Yesssss best house! I've done a midnight halloween flashlight tour too and it just puts it on another level.
and a friend of mine just bought those lil dust covers for his steps. they are sooo neat.
Now that I know they're a thing I so want them!!! I didn't realize they were things you could still buy!
I want to do a flashlight tour so bad! The guide said they weren't doing them this year though. ;3; Maybe some other year we can do this trip again and do that.
omg im sad. cus yeah they are so worth it!!! we got to keep our flash lights too. we had a lot of Activity that night as well. fogged p windows, a door slamming on someone's f ace. whispers. it was great
I had to scroll back, but here, my friend got his dust cover from
here!
i'm sure they can be found cheaper/newer, but gosh they are pretty
So cool! Maybe we can invest in some for our little condo lol.
Our condo has a million stairs so it could be fun to decorate them.
Oh man, jealous of your tour experience. The most activity we got on either of our tours was a little boy who kept claiming he saw ghosts everywhere. XD
Yeah, there was this one set of steps that had a door half way up, on a turn flight. There was a couple ahead of me. The woman leaned in to try to look into the door and said "Weird, jsut a brick wall." And moved on, her bf behind her said let me see? And before he could even touch it the door swung shit hard and loud and locked? I was right there and
he wasnt even close to touching it.
our guide came down to see what was going on, and we explained and she was like uh.... let's keep going... but we wanted to see if there were, you know marks that showed this happens a lot, as in automated tricks?
so someone brought a key and we couldnt find anything at all.
also, in a kitchen under a sink someone found a bucket that had "Bucket of squirrels" written on it. and we had no idea why. our guy shrugged and said it might be for feeding them outside but she wasn't sure why it was there.
nor was she sure why the cabinet was even open. so we closed it and kept going...
i was also laughing because after the tour, we were standing around talking and two employees were talking and our tour guide went over, and we just barely heard her telling them "Man i dont want to do midnight tours anymore" and was explaining the things.
Oh man, that's so cool!!! I want to be on a tour that makes our guide not want to do nighttime tours anymore. That's the dream.
