You can transfer the files easily enough. It is ironic that I have one of those sitting here that has a bad Hard Drive

I am sure that the shipping would be more than the cost to replace the board

You can have the drive put in one of these :-)

Look on ebay also for a possible replacement board. Here they are plentiful and cheap for that older model. Don't pay 34k

I know I might have to let it go and buy a new one. I can buy a brand new Acer laptop with that amount

Those were housings that you can put your drive into and get your data off with no problems.
