My mother is from Ohio, but did not convert to Catholicism til we moved to Memphis. But..she has since not eaten meat on Friday. Hmmmm

It's "mandatory" in the Eastern Catholic Church still. This step in the Roman Church--even locally--promises a return to proper identity.
