it's horrible that Dr. Willner tells Tom, Avery, and Brian that they need to lose the game so that Pleasant Valley wouldn't feel bad
about themselves, just because of what happened. I think this relates to how people sometimes treat people of needs as if they're
in need of extra assistance, or that you have to do certain things for people because you feel bad.
Also, I think it relates to the speech we are writing about banned books and children's protection now.
People are trying to make children secure from reading "harmful" things that are "corrupting" because they're protecting us from the real
world. In order to have a better understanding of life instead of having curious minds, we have to be exposed to such corruption.
This relates because Dr. Willner is trying to protect the children, by taking all of reality out of their lives, and placing them in a
Curiosity is what makes humankind so great. Our imagination is what has led to the success of humans.
Without curiosity and imagination we would be as intelligent as animals.
Also, I see what you mean with your first observation. It's like helping a cripple that doesn't need help. It would only be a disservice
Utopian environment. Protecting Pleasant Valley's feelings by hurting his own really shows how much he doesn't care about his students.
Maybe this is all to make himself look good. Or maybe he just feels the need to control.
Yeah Rush, also, sometimes people who are in need take offense to that.
It's funny how we treat people differently, and feel bad for them if they're not the same as us, when in reality we're all the same.
I think the main problem is people think they're helping someone who's in need of it, but really they're just making them feel even more
different and secluded from everyone else.
Like how a lot of people treat others differently just because they are missing an arm or something.
People shouldn't treat others differently or with pity because we're all the same on the inside.
I totally agree with you Rachel
that's great stuff, guys. we all do this unknowingly everyday, but if you realize this fact..which you do...then you can fight against it
Yes I agree, personally, I do help people who probably don't want my help just because that's my nature. It's kind of
funny how that works out, I always want to help people, but helping them can potentially only hurt them more. Now that I think
about it I should really pay attention to those who want help more than those I think want help.
Well you're a kind person Rachel and ou can't help it. Happens to me sometimes too
oh...you softies!! it's true, though...we need more people to PAY ATTENTION...not the "school" pay attention, but truly LISTEN to people
