does anyone else get frustrated with the lack of control we have over our careers as teachers? Where we teach, what we teach, etc.?

LOL ... if I weren't LOL I'd have to cry. So true holaolah. Although, I suppose if I had a little more guts to take some risks ...

there are risks I'm willing to take, but with a family (especially) there are financial risks I just can't

no matter how great a teacher I might be, I am still a 6 year teacher getting paid a 6y teacher rate no matter how much or hard I work...

Yes, things change with a family LKar. You have to think about more than just yourself.

I used to own my own business and when something wasn't going right or needed changing I could just do it. I could fix a problem.

lkar I agree. I have no choice to leave. Especially in these times. I guess I should be happy I have job at all (as one administrator said)

Basically I am losing most of my Spanish 1 classes and getting all of the "Intro" exploratory classes.

Spanish 1 for H.S credit is the only reason I agreed to teach in M.S.
