I agree completely! Having followers rather than friends tends to make me a little uncomfortable

I found the privacy settings, and have now changed so only friends can see my plurks. I know that there are ppl on my fan list who I enjoy

I have never understood it either. I recently changed my settings to private so that not everyone in the world can read my plurks. And,

therefore, no more fans. You do get a little symbol-thingy below your Karma if you get 50 fans, but it hardly seems worth it.

Initially, I would fan some folks cuz in my cautious way, I didn't necessarily want to friend someone I wouldn't like in my timeline. Or....

friend, I assume he turned the requests down. It was around that time that I changed my timeline to private.

fans are like followers in twitter. You only can follow people there or they follow you. No concept of friend.

I've follow a few people and I'll probably shoot them friend invites, if they've become fans of me.
