I also ... may be closer to watching this because my sister, who said she would never watch or read one piece because the animation was weird and messed with her watched the LA and is now in the deep rabbit hole of watching/reading the entire series lol

Oda just fuckin spins an incredible story that is so silly, but also very serious in its themes of authoritarianism and fascism and friendship UGH

it's a lot, so I know it looks daunting. If you want to watch the anime, I recommend One Pace, which is a fan edit that gets rid of anything that wasn't directly in the manga. pros and cons here, but if speed is your priority, one pace is good

the first half of one piece anime is... not the best animation, but oh my god the latest arcs are cinematic quality and soo gorgeous

seconding the animation quality gets way better, and so do the manga drawings, tbh.
