People of plurk! My security camera system’s frustrating me. Does anyone have any reco’s for a good web-interfaced system?

We have used Arlo for several years. I do not have a subscription, so I just get alerts to my phone, can check it from there or the web. It has a ton of features and settings. I recharge mine every 3 months or so, but there are solar options.

I have 6 cameras - 3 outside the house, 2 in the garage and 1 in the basement.

They have more advanced stuff now than when we got ours, like keypad entry stuff, doorbell cams, etc. but I just use the base station with wifi and a usb stick for recording events. The subscription lets you do a lot, like call 911 for you, etc. and I think its 10$ a month for basic.

I just have it alert us by phone when set if it records anything, then I will call 911 if needed. I hate subscriptions.

What are the alerts like, maxwell_graf ? Oh my current system can do app or sound alerts when there is a large movement detected but we found that it was incredibly unreliable and lagged. Seemed like it would have been a good feature if it had worked.

It woudl record and send us a phone alert, it could be set to set off a sound alarm from the base station and camera. The detection was pretty sensitive but did not notice any lag. It had night vision as well. Some systems will let you set the heat signature so that only a large animal will set it off. Ours was simply movement based but real time.

We could set each camera independently so that it could record or alarm or simply alert us on the phone app with video and an alarm.
