[RL] Just came home from my oldest and favorite dog client getting euthanized this morning. I'm so glad the family let me be there. I loved that dog and will miss him dearly. RIP Santana. Hopefully we'll meet each other again in another life.
For the record on my end, I am a mess. Bawling and crying like it was my own dog. People do not always realize how much we truly bond with the dogs we see regularly in the grooming salon, and Santana has been with me for years. He was the sweetest boy.
YonFellow: I try to create a relationship with all of my clients. Yes, they're clients, but I quite literally treat them more like friends and family, and treat their dogs like I would my own.
(It is one of my biggest regrets with Shawn--I was not strong enough to be there with him in his last moments. I believe he's forgiven me, as he checks on me regularly, but I still regret it.)
(As much as it hurt, I KNEW I would be there with Kirby, and I think he was calmer and happier for it. Even if he didn't quite know what was going on, he knew Mama was there and it'd be okay.)
shinotenshi22: Yeah, just won't be the same without him coming into the salon anymore. His sister is still coming in, but not having him there too, I feel like it's going to break me.
Doesn't matter if someone owns a dog or not. Any dog that you see repeatedly and spend a lot of time with becomes like family. I'm sure it meant a lot that you could be there
