I feel like I more often than not want to sidestep funny moments like this and thus overcompensate
bc Luffy is not naive
this is the LA version, not the anime/manga version, but like
立即下載
his background is being raised by pirates and mountain bandits who forced him to fend for himself
he hung out in slums with the downtrodden and also the dangerous as a child
he is a ding dong, but he's not naive about how the world works, and I think there are many who woobie him because he hasn't let cynicism and his own harsh upbringing destroy his childlike curiosity and optimism
and I dont want to feed into that
BUT AT THE SAME TIME I mean... god how perfect is that opening for Luffy??
HAHA, I like it!
I agree with you that Luffy isn't naive about how shitty the world can be. I also feel like Luffy doesn't always pick up on context clues either, because he has a very specific way of looking at things
Both of those things can be true
yeah exactly. be direct and he gets it, euphemisms aren't his strong suit
plus, his idea of "take what I want" is genuinely stuff like food and maybe treasure, with the caveat that he's not colossally dicking anyone over or robbing them of their freedom
because that's the point where it stops being fun, and therefore he doesn't want it anymore
so it makes sense to me that the text would initially be filtered through that lens, until he's given a reason to change his viewpoint
yeah I think so!
I LOVE IT!!!! i laughed so hard when i saw this notif <3

lmao! so Luffy. Luffy is very intelligent about people, strategy, fighting. It's true, he's not exactly naive, or dumb, but stuff goes over his head if he's not interested in it.

This response is also just so good.
^^^ thank you
