prepare celebratory pancakes, then! And...a few other things. Do you need him to send a plane?
could get over there on his own, but sending a plane would be nice. And yay! Pancakes~
already sent one over, as it's really not that much trouble. He'll try not to burn them this time, too...
thanks Arthur for sending the plane over! And he'll just make new ones if you burn them. It's no big deal~ After all, it's the thought that
supposes that would work just fine...nonetheless, he's been practising, and he really wants to do well this time. Even though he nearly
burnt down the kitchen yesterday...nonetheless. Perhaps he'll get lucky because today is an exception.
eh... Rooting for you then? Good luck. He's sure that if Arthur has been practicing so much, it should be enough. Oh! The plane's here, he
should be at Arthur's house in an hour or so?
looks forward to his arrival, then! Er...if things turn out too poorly, he may just end up using those instant-pancakes...not nearly as good
,but better than charcoal.
to agree that instant pancakes beat charcoal any day. Though he would prefer if the ones you make to be good enough to eat. Do you want him
to grab more ingredients at the store beforehand? That way he can make some if the others end up charcoal.
would prefer that, too, but it seems as though nature, even after all these years, hasn't blessed him with...well, the finest cooking
skills. He's still rather decent...right? He thinks that sounds like a good back-up plan, and he's already got the fire extinguisher ready.
stop by then. He's getting off the plane now and walking towards he store.
appreciates that. The oven is beginning to smoke, but...that just means they're cooking, right? Though he's pretty sure pancakes are
supposed to be made in a frying pan...
so happy he bought more ingredients. No offense, but Arthur needs some lessons or... Or something. Pancakes are really easy to cook.
points out that he's really good when it comes to cooking his own food...p-perhaps he just needs a new oven. Or...something.
isn't going to disagree, mostly because he doesn't want to hurt Arthur's feelings. Stopping at the door, he knocks on it three time with his
free hand, much of the ingredients tucked under his arm.
glad for the tact, at least. Most people don't even bother with that...clicking the stove off, he all but runs to the door, resisting the
urge to just throw it open. "Hullo, poppet~ Miss me?"
blinks, giving Arthur a smile for the enthusiasm. It's rare that he sees his lover let go enough to act young and excited. "Hi! Eh, yes, I
did, very much." Stepping inside, he gives Arthur a one-armed hug.
laughs whole-heartedly despite himself, briefly returning the hug before relieving the other man of the groceries. "Mm, and I missed you as
well. How was your flight over?"
happy to have the groceries taken out of his hands, freeing them. Another step inside and he closes the door behind him with a gentle click,
hardly one to slam a door. "It was alright. Kind of boring... I slept most of the way." He admits, a little sheepishly.
sets the bags on the counter, beginning to unpack and sort them out of habit. It is a tad bit early for dinner, after all... "Ah, is that
so? Well, I usually find that a hot shower helps after a long flight...would you like to take one?"
blinks a little before nodding. "Yes, that sounds great." He offers a little smile. Showers are nice, especially long hot ones. "Should I go
ahead and do that or do you think I should wait until after dinner?" He asks, pointing to the hallway and general direction of the bathroom.
leans back against the counter once it's been cleared off, humming quietly to himself. "Ah, I thought you'd say that...would you like
anything to drink?" He glances at the clock, thinking for a minute. "...I suppose it's up to you. Would you rather eat or shower first?"
he'd rather eat first. Showers and a lot of heat in general makes him sleepy. "I'll wait. How did the pancakes come out?" He asks, going
into the kitchen and looking around. It smells like they didn't come out right, a charcoal-esque, burning smell invading his senses when
he sets foot in the kitchen-area.
nods, looking a little panicked when Matthew walks into the kitchen before he can jump in front of him and come up with a half-arsed excuse
to keep him out. "W-Well, um...about that...you see...I followed the directions, but...I thought it might be better to cook them a little
longer than the book said, and...they're just...not quite done yet..."
stops and looks a little nervous, wanting to tip-toe around the fact that Arthur just completely ruined dinner... Again. So he tries to put
it as politely as he can. "Um... I think... We should get it out. If you leave it in too long it could burn." Well, okay, less polite than
just generic. It's true and he is afraid for Arthur's kitchen and house.
's shoulders slump a little bit, the prominent burning smell in the kitchen making his failure obvious. "I see..." He sighs, sticking on a
pair of oven mitt's on and going to take the pan out. "Well, ah...there's always next time, isn't there?"
guilty for the slump in Arthur's shoulders, helping him take the pancakes turned charcoal out of the oven. It makes him a little sad to see
perfectly good ingredients go to waste. "Yeah, there's always next time. And maybe then you could have me help?" He offers, thinking maybe
he could teach the other a thing or two while he helps him not burn down the house.
, if only for a moment, tempted to try one of the pancakes, but for once even he can't deny that they're completely and absolutely ruined.
Managing a small smile, he tips the pan over the rubbish bin, tossing out the small lumps of charcoal. "Mm, that'd be nice. Maybe you could
teach me the proper way to do it."
nods, smiling and taking out the ingredients. "In fact, I could show you now." He offers, placing each package onto the counter. "If you
want, that is..." He adds, not wanting to hurt Arthur's feelings anymore than he already has.
eyes the ingredients, panning back to the rubbish bin and thinking for a moment before nodding. Better now than later, right? "Yes, I
suppose we might as well try tonite. That sounds fine."
him a little nod, getting a pan and a bowl out of the cupboard easily and setting them on the counter as well. Then he starts to make the
batter for the pancakes, "Alright. Well, I think what you need to work most on is the amount of time you leave them in to cook." He says
, looking up at Arthur. "Would you pass me an egg or two?"
nods, making mental notes in his head. "Alright...so the amount of time you cook them depends on whether or not you end up burning them?" He
, going to fetch an egg from the refrigerator.
laughs a little, nodding. "Of course. The more time you leave them in, the hotter they get and if you leave them in for a long time they
burn." He's a little confused as to why Arthur doesn't understand this concept already. It's not that difficult. Oh well, everyone has a gap
in their knowledge somewhere right? He takes the eggs, breaks them and throws the shells away.
looks rather confused by the idea, watching over Matthew's shoulder. "...so it's not just total guesswork?" He looks rather incredulous
now, drumming his fingers against the countertop. "So...if you cook them for a shorter time, you're less likely to burn them?"
