a little broken heart tonight. The cute mid-century CVS (it was several other drug stores before CVS) is being cut down in size. End of an era. This store had everything...furniture, NICE kitchen section,

nice housewares. They are turning the back half into warehouse space, so it will be more like a regular CVS. A unique place, a place I have loved to go since I was a little boy, is vanishing. (angry) (tears)

I think I know which one you mean! The one with the weird roof shape and all the glass?

www.plurk.com/DjinniGeni... : yes. FYI, I learned a couple of years ago that the roof style on the building is called "folded plate."

I got a great mission-style lamp there years ago, and I still have it. That was back when it was Osco. You may remember it as Skaggs or Osco, www.plurk.com/DjinniGeni...

I think it was Skaggs when I lived there in the 90s, though Osco sounds familiar, too.

Oh wow. I've always loved those roofs. Sorry that the past is going away (cozy)

It changed in the early or mid 90s, I think. So you may remember both!!

www.plurk.com/BodhiPaper... , I think they are keeping the roof. Just the inside is getting shrunk.

Wow, and look at the cars in the last photo! Some major retro fabulousness there.

keeping in mind this is a HUGE drug store, a friend of mine mentioned the changes at this store in a local group, and someone states they sold monkeys there back in the 60s, when it was Katz.

I'd love to know what those sorta roofs are called, style-wise. I love them!

I have heard them called "folded plate."

Sigh I love those old school American drugstores. I read about them in books and then finally visited a small one in Florida. Wonderful.
