liiiiike if his adoptive parents made him feel welcome he'll remember feeling that, but won't actually feel any warmth or so connected to the memory anymore

or anger for things that seriously pissed him off once upon a time

or hurt because his ex-fiancee left him for his best friend oops

but at the same time it'll be gradual and he'll still remember how he used to feel about these things so he'll be very aware of the ship stripping him of the emotional meaning of memories
