IFT Scifi convention...which runs into the overly long RFL season, which runs into other summer events. After OBR...im done. I'm not taking part in the scifi convention....
...cause since RFL got its claws into it its become an ego fest, i'm not taking part in RFL itself AT ALL because after 5 years of it iv'e had enough...
has anyone thought about making RFL season shorter?
after OBR, im taking summer 2015 off, first time for 5 years...and im happy about it...
Anyway, the American Cancer Society lost all credibility with me when one of their reps said e-cigs should be banned, yeah, just keep people smoking ciggies and getting cancer to keep ACS going....
sorry... ranting now... think calm thoughts... >.<
Good for you indeed! For all the good ideals behind RFL, it runs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. One needs time for keeping sane!
two months... they should knock the season down to two months. It's bad enough that RFL has basically taken over my one last refuge.. the scifi convention in SL...cant bloody escape RFL now
It is the most common complaint in SL about RFL, leading cause of burnout among participants and the wallets that are being chased. But a large numbers of folks in the org only log into SL for RFL.
They just see it as a venue for fundraising, period. I'm sure you saw plenty of that tunnel vision yourself, it ain't pretty. With some marked exceptions, the ACS reps are there to wring every last sou from all
<< may have a few residual issues of her own
Yup Foggy
I remember my first RFL, it was actually fun.... Taking over the SciFi Convention in SL last year was the last straw for me, so I quit...
Heh. And now I am thinking of having a steampunk sim completely free of RFL, for all those who may care about fighting cancer, but not the organization.
People also get caught up in the enthusiasm at first, and really WANT all their favorite events to be associated with RFL. Then discover what a monster that can turn into.
So if I was to show my knees again for the cause, you wouldn't come see?
BookwormH we can show off our knees for Model View Culture, Transtech, and the Ada Initiative!
Just to be clear, are you talking about RFL 2016 or 2017? (Both will have to begin shortly, if they want to have them wrapped up for 2020)
You need a break. applauds the decision
"no more !"
I always thought RFL time was just too much. And I don't do anything for it.
I will happily support others who put their heart into it, but I'm done with putting my own in for now.
You will all just have to trust my words when I say I do a LOT for meaningful causes in real life, and I can't/won't make the efforts or spend more funds doing the same in SL.
I need my SL, at this stage of things, to be a simple pleasure without excess obligations.
seconds what
CeejayWriter said. My life is undergoing a tremendous reinvention. SL Is where I want to go to see friends and recharge.
ooh, did you bring the photovoltaic hat!
oh hell, now I gotta make a photovoltaic hat.
