To be clear, this was an act of terrorism against people who did nothing to anyone, and it's absolutely abhorrent. I cannot imagine the hurt and pain experienced today by innocent people going about their day and my heart breaks for them.

Thanks for all the kind words and check-ups. Unfortunately, we're still unable to reach one guy. His family is understandably upset and we're providing them with as much support as possible. People are also in contact with the Red Cross and NZ Police to keep tracking him down. Nobody else is unaccounted for in our Christchurch office, thankfully.

There's some responses in the mere hours after the incident circulating from politicians I won't name - they are effectively blaming the victims for their own deaths in the shooting. amazingly supportive of victims and their families. I understand a 3yo girl and her father were killed and a 4yo boy was med-evac'ed up to Auckland. More people were murdered yesterday than our national annual average murder rate. This is absolutely insane and the racist rhetoric surrounding this is gut-wrenching.

Update: My colleague isn't appearing on the published list of 42 injured being treated at the hospital, so he's still considered missing. We've learned now that a few others have friends still unaccounted for so the focus is on extending the right support network for them.

Again many thanks for your continued concerns and well-wishes during what will likely be remembered as our country's worst day. Racism and extremism is no exception anywhere, but I would not have considered violence in our little corner of the world. Unfortunately, it's likely we were targeted for that very reason.

Also, I can't believe I have to say this, but some game journalists are publishing that within the 87-page manifesto, one of the shooters calls out his subscribing to PewDiePie, who is now receiving a lot of online hate. Ok, let's be clear here, PewDiePie has his controversies, but he is not a reason a mosque was shot up (jfc).

I'm disgusted that "journalists" are using a national tragedy to further their viewcounts. Get a fucking life.

In slightly better news, the Prime Minister during a press conference this morning, committed to gun control law changes going forward and has formally declared this a "terrorist act", recognising what actually happened. None of the 3 key suspects were on any watchlists here or in Australia, so there will be some questions to be answered in coming days.

The PewDiePie thing was ridiculous. I'm in no way a fan of Felix as I'm no gamer, but the online hate directed at him was so uncalled for.

This is the last update from me, I will be signing out after this. Appreciate all the kindness toward our little country the last 48 hours, it means a lot to us and it is our first 'post-terror era' moment.

Unfortunately, my friend and colleague was not one of the victims who made it out of the mosque. His family and loved ones will be getting a lot of support from the community and from our workplace. He was extremely well-liked and many of us have more than a professional connection to him.

The government has completed all autopsies and positive identifications at this stage and will be releasing names of all victims to their families, and then to the wider public today. As you can imagine, the news will be increasingly sombre as family members learn of their losses. Words won't be able to express what that will be like in the coming days.

Thank you again for your support; I knew Plurk was a network that was both compassionate and empathetic to tragedy and you guys have shown yourselves to continue that tradition. This is a big step for us, it will mean sweeping changes to how we feel in terms of security and fear. But know that we're up for the challenge so these cowards never spread hate.
