Adventures in eating!
I wanted dinner (tengo hambre!) so I checked out Google maps, found one that looked good and was only a 10 minute walk. But when I arrived, it didn’t look like a restaurant.

Toured the Lagoon of 7 colors. Also swimming, cenotes, ancient stromatolites, and fruit!

Had breakfast in the hotel (huevos, jamón, café $120pesos). The salsa was much hotter than I expected, so used too much! But they included the “juice” from black beans. No beans. It cooled the eggs down. Though I got some in my fingers and touched just above my eye. Ouch! As usual, no salt or pepper on the table.

The ADO Bus took me to Bacalar, Mexico. This was not a chicken bus! Comfy seats. Movie in Spanish. Bathroom. And bad WiFi. 3+ hours. Then a short taxi ride ($50 pesos/$2.50USD) and I’m at the Hotel Hacienda Bacalar.

Here’s my discovery for today: Huitlacoche. Found it while grocery shopping. It’s corn smut, a fungus. The internet says it tastes like mushroom.

I’ve survived the night. Most of the girls haven’t come home yet. Ah to be young!
