Sudden thought zinging in the back of my brain remembering the middle school teacher I had who was a Star Wars fangirl- specifically Timothy Zahn- and once recited her Star Wars poem to the class.

[book inquiry, mildly negative] Has anyone read Andrew Joseph White's books? I was vaguely interested and had one of his earlier ones on my potential to-read list but now I'm kind of unsure between every protagonist being described exactly the same in every blurb, regardless of historical accuracy/sense.

Fields of Mistria is very good, I'm more than pleased with it so far for it being $14 and early access.

[looking at books] I think my newest "yeah, fuck that" for alternative history type things is probably "actively replace the civil rights movement". I picked up red flags from a book summary that SEEMED interesting but boy was I not expecting THAT ONE.

[Politics PSA] For everyone following the coconut memes that have gone up around Kamala Harris, please be careful about how you use it and the context because "coconut" also gets commonly used as a slur against brown people (Desi, Latino, some SEAsians), as an insinuation they act/wanna be white.

[fandom ick] I talked about a new book I got that I was excited to read in a discord server that I said I picked up without hearing about it and on vibes only, had to actively ask to not be spoiled, and then someone went "I love reading fandom blind, too" and people started to compare it to reading fics without knowing the original canon.
